WTHB-FM
WTHB (1550 AM) and WTHB-FM (96.9 FM), are Christian radio stations simulcasting an urban gospel format, serving the Augusta metropolitan area and owned by Perry Publishing and Broadcasting. The FM station is licensed to Wrens, Georgia, and the AM station is licensed to Augusta, Georgia. The studios and the AM transmitter are co-located on Broadcast Drive at Radio Station Road in North Augusta, South Carolina. Both stations carry the nationally syndicated morning gospel show hosted by Erica Campbell and an afternoon talk radio show hosted by Al Sharpton. WTHB-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 6,200 watts. Its transmitter off U.S. Route 1 at County Road 32 in Matthews, Georgia. By day, WTHB (AM) is powered at 5,000 watts. But AM 1550 is a clear channel frequency reserved for CBEF Windsor, Ontario, Canada. So at night, WTHB (AM) greatly drops its power to 11 watts to avoid interference. WAEG (92.3 FM) is a commercial smooth jazz radio station in Evans, Georgia, broadcasting to the Augusta, Georgia area. The station is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to broadcast with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 6 kW. The station's studios (which are shared with its other sister stations) are located at the aptly named intersection of Broadcast Drive and Radio Station Road in North Augusta, South Carolina, while a transmitter tower is located northwest of Evans. History 92.3 FM signed on in mid-1992 as WAFJ, as a simulcast of Bible Broadcasting Network's 100.9 WYFA Waynesboro. In June 1994, both stations were sold and switched to an UC format as "The New 92.3 and 100.9 The Beat" with 92.3 picking up the WAEG call letters. Wrens, Georgia
Wrens is a city in Jefferson County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,187 at the 2010 census. It is located on U.S. Route 1, thirty miles south of Augusta. History Wrens was laid out in 1884 when the railroad was extended to that point, and named after W.J. Wren, an early settler and merchant. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Wrens as a town in 1901. Wrens was incorporated again as a city in 1970. Geography Wrens is located at . CBEF
CBEF (1550 AM) is a non-commercial radio station in Windsor, Ontario. It airs the programming of Radio-Canada's Première network. CBEF is a Class A station broadcasting on the clear-channel frequency of 1550 AM, and is the only full power station on this frequency in Canada. Most clear channel stations broadcast at 50,000 watts, the maximum permitted for Canadian AM stations, but CBEF is powered at 10,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna, located off Talbot Road (Route 3) in Tecumseh, Ontario. CBEF is also heard on three FM rebroadcasters in Southern Ontario. CBEF was launched in 1970. It originally broadcast at AM 540, until taking over the 1550 frequency in 2013. Effective Radiated Power
Effective radiated power (ERP), synonymous with equivalent radiated power, is an IEEE standardized definition of directional radio frequency (RF) power, such as that emitted by a radio transmitter. It is the total power in watts that would have to be radiated by a half-wave dipole antenna to give the same radiation intensity (signal strength or power flux density in watts per square meter) as the actual source antenna at a distant receiver located in the direction of the antenna's strongest beam (main lobe).
