WSYL (1490 AM) was a radio station owned by Neal Ardman, through licensee NIA Broadcasting, Inc. License renewal hearing and cancellation On March 9, 2021, the Federal Communications Commission designated the station's license renewal for hearing due to being silent for 73 percent of the last three years, including 270 days in 2019 during which the station operated at reduced power without FCC approval. On March 29, 2021, the FCC released a statement saying the hearing would be terminated with prejudice because of NIA Broadcasting's decision to cancel the license for WSYL. Sylvania, Georgia
Sylvania is a town in and the county seat of Screven County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,956 at the 2010 census. History The area was inhabited for thousands of years by various cultures of indigenous peoples. By the time of European encounter, it was occupied by the Yuchi peoples, but some Creeks, the Uchee's allies, moved into the area during Colonial times. The town of Sylvania was founded in 1790 by settlers migrating to the area after the American Revolutionary War. The word "Sylvania" comes from the Latin word ''sylvan'' or '' sylva '' which means "forest land" or "place in the woods." Sylvania was part of the Black Belt of Georgia, developed for cultivation after the cotton gin made it easier to handle short-fiber cotton. Motor Racing Network (MRN) is a U.S. radio network that syndicates broadcasts of auto racing events, particularly NASCAR.
