WSTM-TV (channel 3) is a television station in Syracuse, New York, United States, affiliated with NBC and The CW. It is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, which provides certain services to CBS affiliate WTVH (channel 5) through a local marketing agreement with Granite Broadcasting. Both stations share studios on James Street/New York State Route 290, NY 290 in the Near Northeast, Syracuse, New York, Near Northeast section of Syracuse, while WSTM-TV's transmitter is located in the town of Onondaga, New York. History The station began operations on February 15, 1950 with the call sign WSYR-TV. It was owned by Advance Publications (the Newhouse family's company) along with the ''Syracuse Post-Standard'', ''Syracuse Herald-Journal'', and WSYR radio (WSYR (AM), AM 570 and FM 94.5, now WYYY). WSTM (91.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Contemporary Inspirational format licensed to Kiel, Wisconsin, and broadcasting from the WXER transmitter west of Plymouth on WI 67. The station is currently owned by The Family Radio Network (the former Evangel Ministries), carrying a format shared with sister stations WEMI/ Appleton, WEMY/ Green Bay and WGNV/ Milladore (serving Wausau and Stevens Point) known as "The Family". Studio facilities are located in Appleton. As part of "The Family" schedule it also airs biblical and family-related programming, such as Insight for Living and Focus on the Family.
