WDKF (99.7 FM) is a radio station licensed to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, United States. The station serves the Green Bay area simulcasting co-owned WGEE with a classic country format as ''Duke FM''. The station is currently owned by Midwest Communications, with studios in Bellevue, and its main transmitter located near the town of Lincoln in Kewaunee County. History The station that would become WDKF launched in the early 1980s at 100.1 FM (eventually moving to 99.7 by 1986). Compared to its simulcast partner in the Fox Valley, WDKF's format history has been mostly unstable. WBDK (96.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an adult contemporary format. Licensed to Algoma, Wisconsin, United States, the station serves Brown, Door and Kewaunee counties. The station is currently owned by Bryan Mazur, through licensee Mazur, LLC. WOMA The station went on the air as WOMA on 5 November 1986 on the 96.5 MHz frequency by D & M Broadcasting. The station struggled for years and was sold in 1989 to Wheeler Broadcasting in Shawano, WI, who slowly introduced country music format by mixing it with its then-oldies format and progressed to make it all-country. Due to the large distance of other Wheeler Broadcasting holdings in relation to WOMA, Wheeler unloaded it to Nicolet Broadcasting in 1992 for $150,000. Ephraim, Wisconsin
Ephraim is a village in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. It is located across Eagle Harbor from Peninsula State Park. The population was 288 at the 2010 census. The village is known for its white buildings, its views of the bluffs across Eagle Harbor, and its shoreline along Green Bay. History The village was founded in 1853 by the Reverend Andreas Iverson as a Moravian religious community. The steeples of the Ephraim Moravian Church and the Free Evangelical Lutheran Church-Bethania Scandinavian Evangelical Lutheran Congregation are the landmarks of the village as seen from Eagle Harbor. The home of Reverend Iverson, as well as the Anderson Store, the Anderson Barn and History Center, the Pioneer Schoolhouse and the Goodletson log cabin are preserved by the Ephraim Historical Foundation and open to visitors as museums. Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
Sturgeon Bay is a city in and the county seat of Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,646 at the 2020 Census. The city is well-known regionally for being the largest city of the Door Peninsula, after which the county is named. History The area was originally inhabited by the Ho-Chunk and Menominee. The town is known in the Menominee language as ''Namāēw-Wīhkit'', or "bay of the sturgeon". The Menominee ceded this territory to the United States in the 1831 Treaty of Washington. After that, the area was available for white settlement. The community was first recorded as Graham in 1855 but, in 1857, the state legislature organized it as the town of Ottumba. Subsequently, the name was reverted to Graham and, in 1860, a petition was submitted to the county board to change the community's name to that of the adjacent bay.
