WQXC-FM
WQXC-FM (100.9 FM, "Cool 101") is a radio station broadcasting an oldies format. Licensed to Allegan, Michigan, it first began broadcasting in 1981 under the WAOP call sign. WQXC-FM was licensed to Otsego, Michigan from its sign-on until the city of license changed to Allegan in November 2006. Prior to adopting the current Oldies format aimed at the Kalamazoo market, the station had programmed Adult Contemporary music focused toward the Otsego/Allegan area. The station was also formerly known by the name "Quixie 101" (with "Quixie" being a sounding-out of the station's calls) prior to changing to "Cool 101." Bronco Radio Network For three seasons starting in the fall of 2007, WQXC was the flagship station of the Western Michigan University "Broncos Radio Network" for hockey and women's basketball. Allegan, Michigan
Allegan ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. Its population was 5,222 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Allegan County. It lies within Allegan Township but is administratively autonomous. History The men after whom Allegan's downtown streets were named – Elisha Ely, Samuel Hubbard, Charles Christopher Trowbridge, Pliny Cutler, and Edmund Monroe – patented land in the area in 1833. They considered the site a prime location for industry, due to its potential for water power (since it straddled the Kalamazoo River) and water bound transportation. Otsego is a city in Allegan County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,956 at the 2010 census. The city is within Otsego Township, but is administratively autonomous. Kalamazoo ( ) is a city in the southwest region of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is the county seat of Kalamazoo County. At the 2010 census, Kalamazoo had a population of 74,262.
