WPXY-FM (97.9 MHz) is a heritage Top 40/CHR station licensed to Rochester, New York. Its transmitter is located on Pinnacle Hill in Brighton, and its studios are located at High Falls Studios in downtown Rochester. WPXY also broadcasts on HD Radio, and includes a secondary subchannel, known as " Channel Q", which carries a LGBTQ+-oriented Talk/EDM format. History WPXY-FM signed on air on September 14, 1959 as WVET-FM, the FM sister to WVET. It first aired classical music, before flipping to an automated beautiful music format. WCMF-FM (96.5 MHz) is a radio station located in the Rochester, New York, area. Its transmitter is located on Pinnacle Hill in Brighton, Monroe County, and its studios are located at High Falls Studios in downtown Rochester. WCMF is a heritage classic rock station in the Rochester area. The current WCMF morning show is now called ''The Break Room'' and features Tommy Mulé, Pat Duffy and Kimmy Bernston, with the latter fulfilling the producer role, with traffic reporting by a rotating cast. In 1998, Jacor was purchased by Clear Channel Communications, now iHeartMedia, for $2.8 billion. Kemal Amin "Casey" Kasem (April 27, 1932 – June 15, 2014) was an American disc jockey, actor, and radio personality, who created and hosted several radio countdown programs, notably '' American Top 40''.
