WOSH-TV
WOSH-TV, UHF analog channel 48, was a television station licensed to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, United States. It was the first UHF television station in the state of Wisconsin, and the third television station of any kind on the air in the state, after NBC affiliate WTMJ-TV in 1947 and CBS (now ABC) affiliate WBAY-TV in March 1953. History WOSH-TV was granted a license to operate on November 26, 1952, shortly after the FCC ended a three-year freeze on the creation of new television licenses in the United States, and began broadcasting at 4 p.m. local time on July 1, 1953 with 100 watts of power, expected to be increased to 1 kilowatt later in the year. WFRV-TV (channel 5) is a television station in Green Bay, Wisconsin, United States, affiliated with CBS. Owned by Nexstar Media Group, the station maintains studios on East Mason Street in Green Bay, and its transmitter is located north of Morrison, Wisconsin. WFRV-TV's studios also house master control and some internal operations for MyNetworkTV affiliate WJMN-TV (channel 3) in Escanaba, Michigan, which served as a semi-satellite of WFRV for the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan until 2022; WJMN does maintain studios, sales offices and engineering operations in Marquette. WOSH
WOSH (1490 AM) is a radio station serving the Oshkosh, Wisconsin area with a News/Talk format including the ABC News Radio network. This station is under ownership of Cumulus Media. The station began broadcasting on December 31, 1941. During the late 1960s until 1975, WOSH was the leading Top 40 radio station in the Appleton-Oshkosh market, with Jonathon Brandmeier as the station's star disc jockey. On August 1, 1975, AM 1490's callsign was changed from WOSH to WYTL, and its format changed from top 40 to modern country. This change was advertised as a "frequency swap" to listeners, where WYTL-FM "moved" along with its country format to AM 1490, and WOSH-AM "moved" to FM 103.9 with its top 40 format. Fond du Lac () is a city in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 44,678 at the 2020 census. KFIZ-TV, UHF analog channel 34, was an independent television station licensed to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, United States that operated from August 1, 1968, to November 30, 1972. The station was a sister station to KFIZ-AM, and covered an 11-county area in east-central Wisconsin. Both stations were owned by RK Communications, parent company of Fond du Lac's daily newspaper, the ''Fond du Lac Reporter''. Although this was contrary to regulations, the owners were "grandfathered" due to their cross-media ownership pre-dating the regulations. Given the expense of broadcast quality equipment at the time, KFIZ-TV had to operate with severe limitations. Initially, only programming on 16mm film could be shown in color. Its three studio cameras were black and white, as was its only video tape machine. Lake Winnebago
Lake Winnebago ( mez, Wenepekōw Nepēhsæh, oj, Wiinibiigoo-zaaga'igan, one, kanyataláheleˀ) is a shallow freshwater lake in the north central United States, located in east central Wisconsin. At 137,700 acres it is the largest lake entirely within the state, covering an area of about 30 miles by 10 miles, with 88 miles of shoreline, an average depth of 15.5 feet, and a maximum depth of 21 feet. It has many shallow reefs along the west shore, and a drop-off type shoreline on the east. There are several islands along the west shore. The lake has two primary tributaries, the Wolf and Fox Rivers, which combine at Lake Butte des Morts.
