WOPI-CD
WOPI-CD, virtual channel 19 (VHF digital channel 11), is a low-power, Class A television station licensed to both Bristol, Virginia and Kingsport, Tennessee, United States. It is a translator of Kingsport-licensed Cozi TV affiliate WKPT-TV (channel 19) which is owned by the Glenwood Communications Corporation. WOPI-CD's transmitter is located on Holston Mountain in the Cherokee National Forest; its parent station maintains studios on Commerce Street in downtown Kingsport. History WOPI has been simulcasting the third digital subchannel of WKPT-TV since October 1, 2007. It was an affiliate of America One until December 21, 2007; it then carried the Retro Television Network until 2014, and Cozi TV until January 2017 (Cozi programming is now seen on WKPT-TV's primary channel). WKPT (1400 AM) is a North American radio station, located in Kingsport, Tennessee. It operates with a daytime/nighttime power of 1,000 watts. WKPT is one of the oldest radio stations in East Tennessee, first taking the airwaves in 1940. Programming WKPT (AM) broadcasts an all-sports format featuring programming from ESPN Radio. Local programming features "Sports Magazine," hosted by sports director Scott Gray, on Monday evenings. "Sports Magazine" has been a fixture on the station for more than two decades. WAPK-CD, virtual channel 36 ( UHF digital channel 16), is a low-power, Class A MeTV- affiliated television station licensed to Kingsport, Tennessee, United States, serving the Tri-Cities area of northeastern Tennessee and southwestern Virginia. Owned by the Glenwood Communications Corporation, it is sister to Cozi TV affiliate WKPT-TV (channel 19) and several radio stations. All of the stations share studios on Commerce Street in downtown Kingsport, while WAPK-CD's transmitter is located on Holston High Point at Holston Mountain in the Cherokee National Forest. Due to its low-power status, the broadcasting radius does not reach all of the Tri-Cities area. WVEK-FM is a classic hits formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Weber City, Virginia, serving the Tri-Cities area. WVEK-FM is owned and operated by Glenwood Communications Corporation, through subsidiary Holston Valley Broadcasting Corporation. History WVEK went on the air as WSEH on July 26, 1991 and was owned by Cumberland City Broadcasting. On May 26, 2005, WSEH switched its calls to WVEK-FM and its format to classic rock.
