WOLM "Radio Maria" (for: Our Loving Mother) is a non-commercial FM broadcasting station at 88.1 mHz licensed to D'Iberville, Mississippi and serving the D'Iberville and Biloxi areas. Its founder "Friends of Radio Maria" (which in addition airs Italian language programming on the FM subcarrier of New York City station WKTU) was the group that acquired the construction permit and start-up of WOLM in addition to sister stations WHJM which is licensed in Anna, Ohio and WRMW 91.1 FM licensed in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. All these stations are now owned by (and licensed to) Radio Maria Inc. WOLM began as a construction permit issued by the FCC in May 2007. It launched on the air May 27, 2010 just three days before the construction permit deadline date. WRMW "Radio Maria" (for: Radio Maria-Wisconsin) is a non-commercial FM broadcasting station at 91.3 MHz licensed to Peshtigo, Wisconsin serving the Sturgeon Bay area with Catholic programming. WRMW's signal and tower height also has the potential to reach into portions of the southern tip of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the western coast of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. KDEI "Radio Maria" is an AM broadcasting station airing Catholic programming at 1250 kHz in Port Arthur, Texas. It is a repeater station of KJMJ 580 kHz in Alexandria, Louisiana. History In Brownsville KDEI's history begins not in Port Arthur but in Brownsville, on the Mexican border, where KWWG was authorized on 1080 kHz in 1925. The next year, it moved to 1260 kHz in a time-share with KRGV, which broadcast from Weslaco. The station was owned by the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Brownsville and by the ''Brownsville Herald'' newspaper after 1930. Violent storms hit south Texas in August 1933, leaving KWWG out of commission. When the station applied for renewal of its license, it also sought to be sold to Port Arthur College, which planned to move the station to Port Arthur. KNIR "Radio Maria" (for: New IbeRia) is an AM broadcasting station at 1360 kHz on the AM band licensed to New Iberia, Louisiana serving the greater Lafayette area with Catholic programming as a repeater of KJMJ 580 kHz in Alexandria, Louisiana. D'Iberville ( ) is a city in Harrison County, Mississippi, United States, immediately north of Biloxi, across the Back Bay. As of the 2010 United States Census, it had a population of 9,486. Sturgeon Bay
Sturgeon Bay is an arm of Green Bay extending southeastward approximately 10 miles into the Door Peninsula at the city of Sturgeon Bay, located approximately halfway up the Door Peninsula. The bay is connected to Lake Michigan by the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal. The Potawatomi name for Sturgeon Bay is "Na-ma-we-qui-tong". Origin The bay seems to represent the pre-glacial path of the Menominee River, with the valley deepened by glacial carving and then submerged into rising lakewaters.
