Ashland, Ohio
Ashland is a city in and the county seat of Ashland County, Ohio, United States, 66 miles southwest of Cleveland and 82 miles northeast of Columbus. The population was 20,362 at the 2010 census. It is the center of the Ashland Micropolitan Statistical Area (as defined by the United States Census Bureau in 2003). Ashland was designated a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation in 1984. History Ashland was laid out by Daniel Carter in 1815. Ashland was originally called Uniontown, but in 1822 the city was compelled to adopt a new name because another city in Ohio was already named Uniontown. WSWR (100.1 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic hits format as "My 100.1." Licensed to Shelby, Ohio, WSWR serves the Mid-Ohio area. The station is owned by iHeartMedia. WSWR originated as a stand-alone signal targeting the Mansfield/Ashland area as "Crusin' 100," airing an oldies format before segueing to classic hits as "My 100.1." From January 2010 until December 26, 2011, the station was simulcast on WXXR (which previously simulcast WFXN-FM) as "My 100.1/98.3", before dropping their classic hits format in favor of a simulcast of WMAN, with both stations taking the WMAN-FM and WWMM calls, respectively. Timeless was a 24-hour satellite music service of Citadel Media (through Citadel Broadcasting). It has distributed a mix of soft oldies and adult standards to radio stations around the United States. It was a combination of two former formats: gold-based adult contemporary Unforgettable Favorites (also known as "Memories") and adult standards Timeless Classics/Timeless Favorites (originally known as "Stardust"). Since 2007, it was simply known as "Timeless", still using the "Timeless Favorites" branding sparingly. Cumulus Media Networks was an American radio network owned and operated by Cumulus Media. From 2011 until its merger with Westwood One, it controlled many of the radio assets formerly belonging to the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), which was broken up in 2007; Cumulus owned the portion of the network that was purchased by Citadel Broadcasting that year. Mount Vernon is a city in Knox County, Ohio, United States. It is located northeast of Columbus. The population was 16,990 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Knox County. History The community was platted in 1805, and named after Mount Vernon, the estate owned by George Washington.
