WMWM (band)
WMWM is a non-commercial radio station at 91.7 Megahertz in Salem, Massachusetts, licensed to Salem State University. The station was founded as WSSC AM 640 (carrier current) in 1968 and became WMWM at 91.7 FM in 1976 with a power of 10 watts. Power was increased to 130 watts in 1978. The station features alternative rock with specialty shows devoted to local artists, blues, talk, doo wop, and acoustic music. It broadcasts 24 hours a day utilizing computerized automation playlists when a live DJ is not available. Esoteric is half of the hip hop duo 7L & Esoteric, a third of Czarface and is a member of underground hip-hop collectives Army of the Pharaohs and Demigodz. He started his solo career in 2007. WZRM (97.7 FM, ''Rumba 97.7'') is a radio station in the Boston, Massachusetts market licensed to Brockton, Massachusetts, carrying a Spanish CHR radio format. Owned and operated by iHeartMedia, it serves the Metro Boston and South Shore areas of Massachusetts. The station's studios are located in Medford and the transmitter site is atop Great Blue Hill. History WBET-FM and WCAV WZRM first went on the air in 1948 as WBET-FM, the sister station of WBET (990 AM, now WBMS 1460) in Brockton (WBET would subsequently buy WBKA 1450 and WBKA-FM 107.1, shut down the WBKA stations, and move its AM facility from 990 to 1460). Mark Parisi (born 1961) is the creator of '' Off the Mark'', a comic panel which began in 1987 and now appears in 100 newspapers, as well as on greeting cards, T-shirts, and more. ''Off the Mark'' is distributed daily by Universal Press Syndicate. Parisi's work is influenced by Charles Schulz, Gary Larson and ''MAD'' magazine. Parisi has also said he admires the work of cartoonists Jim Meddick, Sergio Aragonés, and Garry Trudeau. In addition, Mark is the author and illustrator of the ''Marty Pants'' middle-grade novel series for Harper Collins.
