WMTS-FM
WMTS-FM (88.3 FM broadcasting, FM) is a student-run college radio station licensed to Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The station is currently owned by Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). It is the fourth attempt by students at MTSU to organize a student-run radio station. A student group, led by Reza Baktar, worked to achieve enough interest and authorization from the Student Government Association. WMTS went on-air in March 1992 on cable TV Channel 38, the Housing and Residential Life Channel, from 8 PM to midnight. The station's name was initially WNAR, for We Need a Radio or We Need a Reza. In the fall of 1992, the signal was moved to MTSU Channel 8 on the local cable system. WMTS worked to obtain Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval for an FM license and construction permit during this time. With the donation of tower space and a transmitter from WMOT, WMTS hit the FM band on 88.3 Hertz, MHz in the summer of 1995. The WNAR call sign was changed to WMTS that fall. ...

Wireless Medical Telemetry Service
Wireless Medical Telemetry Service (WMTS) is a wireless service specifically defined in the United States by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for transmission of data related to a patient's health (biotelemetry). It was created in 2000 because of interference issues due to establishment of digital television. The bands defined are 608-614 MHz, 1395-1400 MHz and 1427-1432 MHz. Devices using these bands are typically proprietary. Further, the use of these bands has not been internationally agreed to, so many times devices cannot be marketed or used freely in countries other than the United States. Because of this, in addition to WMTS, many manufacturers have created devices that transmit data in the ISM bands such as 902-928 MHz, and, more typically, 2.4-2.5 GHz, often using IEEE 802.11 or Bluetooth radios. FCC statements There is an FCC statement on coexistence of WMTS in various frequency bands. Prior to the establishment of the WMTS, m ...

Web Map Tile Service
A Web Map Tile Service (WMTS) is a standard protocol for serving pre-rendered or run-time computed georeferenced map tiles over the Internet. The specification was developed and first published by the Open Geospatial Consortium in 2010. History The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) became involved in developing standards for web mapping after a paper was published in 1997 by Allan Doyle, outlining a "WWW Mapping Framework". The oldest and most popular standard for web mapping is WMS. However, the properties of this standard proved to be difficult to implement for situations where short response times were important. For most WMS services it is not uncommon to require 1 or more CPU seconds to produce a response. For massive parallel use cases, such a CPU-intensive service is not practical. To overcome the CPU intensive on-the-fly rendering problem, application developers started using pre-rendered map tiles. Several open and proprietary schemes were invented to organize and address ...
