WLXT-TV
WLXT-TV, UHF analog channel 60, was an independent television station that was licensed to Aurora, Illinois, from 1969 to 1970. It was owned by the South Kane-Kendall Broadcasting Company and was an independent station. WLXT ceased operating in July 1970; channel 60 would not return to air in Chicago for another 12 years. History In late 1966, the South Kane-Kendall Broadcasting Corporation was one of two applicants for channel 60 at Aurora; it won the station in 1968, initially proposing an educational-commercial hybrid schedule featuring credit courses from Waubonsee Community College. Investors in South Kane-Kendall included Roy Raymond, owner of a plastics company, and Ray Sherwood, general manager of Aurora radio station WMRO-FM. The station also won the favor of city councilmembers, who voted down a proposed cable system for Aurora largely because they feared it would harm the planned local station. Christine Lund, also known as Christine Lundstedt (born November 25, 1943 in Sweden) is a former popular Los Angeles news anchor for KABC-TV from the early 1970s to the late 1990s and consistently garnered high ratings. Biography Born in Sweden and raised in Chicago, Lund began her broadcasting career where she briefly worked at WLXT-TV in Aurora as the station's news director. In 1970, she joined ABC owned-and-operated station KGO-TV in San Francisco as a reporter. Later, Lund moved south to Los Angeles sister station KABC in 1972 as a reporter and anchor. She anchored the newscasts at 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm. Tom Skilling
Tom Skilling (born 1952) is an American television meteorologist. Since 1978, he has worked as a meteorologist at WGN-TV in Chicago. Career Beginnings The oldest of four children, Tom Skilling was born in the Chicago suburb of Aurora, Illinois, where he attended West Aurora High School. While in high school Tom began his career in broadcasting at age 14, working for WKKD (AM), WKKD and WERV-FM, WKKD-FM. Skilling observed that WKKD's forecasts were inaccurate because they were for Chicago and not Aurora, so he approached WKKD and offered to forecast the weather for several days, with the condition that if his forecasts were accurate he would be hired to host his own weather program. KABC-TV (channel 7) is a television station in Los Angeles, California, United States, serving as the West Coast flagship of the ABC network.
