WLXF (105.5 FM) is a Christian radio station licensed to serve Macon, Georgia. It broadcasts a Contemporary Christian music format. History WDEN-FM The current 105.5 license began broadcasting at 105.3 MHz as WDEN-FM, Macon's second FM radio station, on June 10, 1968. It was the FM sister station to WDEN (1500 AM), a daytime-only country music outlet, and its full-time simulcast, additionally operating after local sunset. The original owners of WDEN-AM-FM were the Rowland family, doing business as Radio Macon; the Rowlands WQIK-AM-FM in Jacksonville and WQYK-AM-FM in St. Petersburg J. Marvin Elliott acquired an 81 percent ownership interest from the Rowlands in 1972 for $325,000. Elliott died in 1978. Two years later, his estate sold the WDEN stations to a limited partnership known as First Macon Communications Corporation, a group of Alabama investors, for $1,026,500. WDEN-FM (99.1 MHz, "#1 Country FM 99 WDEN") is a commercial radio station licensed to Macon, Georgia. The station is owned by Cumulus Media and the broadcast license is held by Cumulus Licensing, LLC. WDEN airs a country music radio format. The studios and offices are on Mulberry Street. WDEN-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 100,000 watts, the maximum permitted for non-grandfathered FM stations. It uses a tower that is 177 meters (581 feet) in height above average terrain (HAAT). The transmitter is off Ocmulgee East Boulevard (Route 87), near Interstate 16 in Macon. Programming WDEN-FM's parent company, Cumulus Media, has renamed most of the country music stations in its chain "Nash FM." But over the years, WDEN-FM developed its own identity so it continues to be called "#1 Country FM 99 WDEN." The Regular Guys
''The Regular Guys'' was a terrestrial radio show that started in Los Angeles, California, by DJs Larry Wachs and Eric Von Haessler. The show added Atlanta based DJs "Southside" Steve Rickman and "Action Plan" Tim Andrews when the show resumed in Atlanta, Georgia, during its later runs. Former Atlanta Falcon Bob Whitfield was added to the show during its last run. The show's primary demographic target was men aged 25 to 49. Show history Origins Larry Wachs and Eric Von Haessler met in the late 1980s and early 1990s, while doing radio and engaging in phone conversations in various capacities in New York. They later sent demos of what work they did together to various markets, ultimately landing interest in Los Angeles. The show was a conversational mix of comedy, skits, and talk-radio, which came to form in 1995 on the Los Angeles station KLSX 97.1 FM. Macon, Georgia
Macon ( ), officially Macon–Bibb County, is a consolidated city-county in the U.S. state of Georgia. Situated near the fall line of the Ocmulgee River, it is located southeast of Atlanta and lies near the geographic center of the state of Georgia—hence the city's nickname, "The Heart of Georgia". Macon had a population of 157,346 in the year 2020. It is the principal city of the Macon Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a population of 233,802 in 2020. Macon is also the largest city in the Macon–Warner Robins Combined Statistical Area (CSA), a larger trading area with an estimated 420,693 residents in 2017; the CSA abuts the Atlanta metropolitan area just to the north. In a 2012 referendum, voters approved the consolidation of the governments of the City of Macon and Bibb County, thereby making Macon Georgia's fourth-largest city (just after Augusta).
