WLLR is owned by iHeartMedia, with studios located in Davenport. Its transmitter site is located in Bettendorf. History The Davenport allocation for 103.7 FM – representing the second FM station in the Quad Cities – dates to October 1948, when the station signed on as WOC-FM, a companion to its AM sister station, WOC (1420 AM). The station was owned by the Palmer family, a well-known Quad Cities family that started the Palmer College of Chiropractic. As with most FM radio stations in the 1950s and 1960s, WOC-FM played mostly easy listening and classical music. The frequency's first major format change came in February 1972, when WOC-FM became the Quad-Cities market's first full-time FM rock station. History Early history (1976-1998) The station began life in February 1976 as WEMO ("EMO" standing for East Moline) and playing adult contemporary music. The station was owned by Upper Rock Island County Holding Corp. In November 1978, the station was sold to BJM Broadcasting, and the station adopted a country format, with the call letters WZZC. The format change took effect December 3, 1978, and during this time, the station also featured local high school and college sports, as well as St. Louis Cardinals games. The Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway (W&LLR) ( cy, Rheilffordd y Trallwng a Llanfair Caereinion) is a narrow gauge heritage railway in Powys, Wales. The line is around long and runs westwards from the town of Welshpool ( cy, Y Trallwng) via Castle Caereinion to the village of Llanfair Caereinion. History Early proposals The first proposal to connect Llanfair Caerinion and Welshpool by railway was the Llanfair Railway of 1864; this would have been a narrow gauge line, with a mixed gauge section where it connected to the Cambrian Railways. This proposal was abandoned. The next attempt came in 1876 with the promotion of the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway Bill, which proposed a railway along a similar route to the 1864 effort. This Bill passed through the Houses of Parliament. This attempt failed in 1882 because the promoters were unable to raise sufficient capital.
