WKSF (99.9 FM "Kiss Country") is a country music station licensed to Old Fort, North Carolina, serving the Asheville area. The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and broadcasts from a tower on Mount Pisgah, southwest of Asheville. History Early years WLOS-FM launched alongside WLOS (1380 AM) on August 11, 1947. Old Fort is a town in McDowell County, North Carolina, McDowell County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 811 people in the 2020 U.S. Census. A leveraged buyout (LBO) is one company's acquisition of another company using a significant amount of borrowed money (leverage) to meet the cost of acquisition. The assets of the company being acquired are often used as collateral for the loans, along with the assets of the acquiring company. Mitchell Wolfson Sr. (1900 – January 28, 1983) was an American businessman, theatre owner, politician, and founder of Wometco Enterprises. Biography Wolfson was born in 1900 in Key West, Florida. He went to school in Key West and at Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, New York and then graduated from Columbia University. After school, he went to work for the East Coast Wholesale Corp in Miami, founded by his father in 1884.
