WKPW is a classic hits, classic rock and oldies formatted noncommercial broadcast radio station licensed to Knightstown, Indiana. WKPW is owned by New Castle Career Center and operated by students at Knightstown High School. History WKPW was originally operated by Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home in Knightstown. Instructor/Program Director Mike York, who had worked in the Indianapolis radio market for many years at WIBC, WNAP and WENS, designed the studios. The students, under York's supervision, assisted with building and outfitting of the broadcast facility. The project was under the direction of ISSCH Superintendent Robert Molnar, Assistant Superintendent John Wittkamper and Eder Career Center Director Paul Wilkinson. The project was completed after nearly two years and on September 23, 1993 WKPW began broadcasting a radiated power of 250 watts on a 100-foot (30.48 m) tower. Knightstown, Indiana
Knightstown is a town in Wayne Township, Henry County, Indiana, adjacent to Rush County, along the Big Blue River. The population was 2,182 at the 2010 census. It is approximately thirty-two miles east of Indianapolis. Knightstown is famous for the 1986 film '' Hoosiers''. The Hoosier Gym was used in the filming of the film. Knightstown hosts two annual festivals: Jubilee Days held in early-mid June and The Hoosier Fall Festival held in September. While the station is City of license, licensed to Shelbyville, Indiana, its studios are located on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. Seether are a South African rock band founded in 1999 in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. The band originally performed under the name Saron Gas until 2002, when they moved to the United States and changed it to Seether to avoid confusion with the deadly chemical known as sarin gas. Lead vocalist and guitarist Shaun Morgan is the band's longest serving member, bassist Dale Stewart joined shortly after formation while drummer John Humphrey joined them for the band's second album.
