History The station signed on the air as WAUE on June 1, 1997. It switched to its current WKLX callsign on July 10, 1998, which is about 11 months and 9 days after its inception. It started broadcasting as an adult hits station using the branding "100.7 KLX." It was branded as "Star 100.7" during the mid-2000s. The current "100.7 Sam FM" moniker was adopted in 2006. WWKN (99.1 FM) is a radio station that is licensed to and serving Morgantown, Kentucky. The station is owned by Newberry Broadcasting, Inc. It broadcasts a classic hits format with 650 watts of effective radiated power from its transmitter located along Veterans Way (KY 70) near the Charles Black City Park in Morgantown. WWKN is a full-time repeater of Brownsville-licensed WKLX, which is based in Bowling Green. Hilltopper Sports Network
The Hilltopper Sports Network is the regional sports radio network for the Western Kentucky University's Hilltoppers and Lady Toppers. Headquartered in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the network provides coverage of WKU's athletic teams football, men's and women's basketball. Some select affiliates also clears WKU Men's Baseball games. The network boasts the second-largest radio network in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, behind only their main competitor, the UK IMG Sports Network. WKYU-TV, the university-owned PBS member station, is the sole television affiliate that broadcasts WKU's televised coaches shows, along with some of WKU's sporting events, including those that originate from Sinclair Broadcasting-owned Stadium. Edmonson County, Kentucky
Edmonson County is a county located in the south central portion of the U.S. state of Kentucky. As of the 2020 census, the population was 12,126. Its county seat is Brownsville. The county was formed in 1825 and named for Captain John "Jack" Edmonson (1764–1813), who was killed at the Battle of Frenchtown during the War of 1812. This is a dry county where the sale of alcohol is prohibited. Edmonson County is included in the Bowling Green, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area. WOVO (106.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an adult contemporary format. Licensed to Horse Cave, Kentucky, United States, the station serves the Bowling Green area. The station is currently owned by Commonwealth Broadcasting through licensee Soky Radio, LLC and features programming from Westwood One. History The station originally signed on the air as WOVO on July 14, 1972. The station was previously a class A station located at 105.5 FM. It moved to 105.3 FM to obtain a power increase and changed its call sign to WWWQ on March 1, 1991. On September 23, 1996, the station changed its call sign back to WOVO. WWKU (1450 AM) is a radio station licensed to Plum Springs, Kentucky, United States. The station is owned by Newberry Broadcasting, Inc. and runs ESPN Radio sports programming. History Originally licensed to Glasgow, the station signed on the air as the original WCDS on October 1, 1962. It was originally locally-owned by the Barrick family, with John Barrick as the president of the station. Operating the station alongside wife Sarah, the station was named after her and their four children, using the first letter of each of their names-- Christy, Cindy, David, and Danny. John Barrick was the news anchor for the station; he even owned his own helicopter for news coverage purposes. The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers men's basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Western Kentucky University (WKU) in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Hilltoppers currently compete in Conference USA. The team's most recent appearance in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was in 2013. Rick Stansbury was announced as the team's current head coach on March 28, 2016.
