WKHI (FM)
WKHI (94.5 FM, "94.5 KHI") is a commercial radio station that is licensed to Newark, Maryland, United States and serves the Delmarva Peninsula. The station is owned by The Voice Radio Network and broadcasts a classic hits format. History The station was granted an initial construction permit for 94.9 FM in November 2015. Originally called WMDS, it switched its call sign to WAMS in May 2016. On April 1, 2017, the station signed on the air with a triple-A format as "94.9 WAMS", programmed under an LMA between Miriam Media and Robin Rothschild. In October 2017, Seaford Media, LLC (now Vinco Media, LLC) purchased WAMS from Miriam Media; the new owner flipped the station to adult hits as "94.9 Jack FM" on November 1, moving that format from WSUX-FM. On September 19, 2018, WAMS adopted the legacy WKHI call letters that were used previously at 99.9 FM (now WWFG) when it was a contemporary hit radio (CHR) station. ''Backtrax USA'' is a weekly two-hour radio program hosted by former WHTZ (Z100) disc jockey Kid Kelly that premiered in 1992. The original show highlights hit music from the 1980s. Since 2003, ''Backtrax USA'' has also offered a 1990s version of the show featuring hits from that decade. Affiliate stations may air either version or both. The program is distributed by Westwood One in the United States and by Premiere Radio Networks elsewhere. WBBX (106.1 MHz) is an FM radio station broadcasting a classic hits format. Licensed to Pocomoke City, Maryland, United States, the station is owned by Vinco Media LLC (Vince Klepac). The station was assigned the WBBX call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on February 6, 2020. History The original call sign of the station was WMYJ in 1992. During two months of 1994, the call letters were changed to WWVV in 1994. While the station was licensed to Great Scott Broadcasting, it was operated under a local marketing agreement ( LMA) by Bay Broadcasting. Prior to 2005, the station was a simulcast of WBEY, a country music station. In 2005, the simulcast ended and the station switched its programming to SAM-FM, a variety hits programming format distributed by satellite by Westwood One. Wray Fitch and Greg Bojko, through licensee GSB Media, LLC. History From approximately 2000 through the end of 2010, 101.1 was WQMR, a talk radio station. Jack FM is a radio network brand, licensed by Sparknet Communications, with the exception of the European Union where it is licensed by Oxis Media. It plays an adult hits radio format, format, in most cases not using disc jockey, DJs. Format characteristics Stations using the "Jack" name are strictly licensed by SparkNet Communications. There are several terms that each station must agree to, including the use of no disc jockeys for at least the first few months of the format.
