WJXA (92.9 FM) is an adult contemporary radio station. Licensed to Nashville, Tennessee, United States, the station serves the Nashville, Bowling Green, Clarksville-Hopkinsville areas. The station is currently owned by Duey Wright, through licensee Midwest Communications, Inc. Its studios are located in south central Nashville near the Tennessee State Fairgrounds and the transmitter site is located in the far western portion of Nashville. History After more than a decade of technical and legal wrangling, the station went on the air in 1976 as easy-listening WZEZ; in 1994, the station call letters changed to WJXA. The station has, for a number of years now, adhered to a "light rock" (or adult contemporary) format aimed primarily at female listeners. WNFN (106.7 FM, "Hot 106-7") is a Top 40 (CHR) formatted radio station in the Nashville, Tennessee market, broadcasting a Top 40 format. Its transmitter site is in Whites Creek, Tennessee and its studios are in Berry Hill, Tennessee. Previously licensed to the affluent Nashville suburb of Belle Meade, but subsequently obtaining a permit for an increased signal, with a new license based the Nashville suburb of Millersville (just across the line from Davidson County), WNFN was formerly operated under the callsign of WNPL. The station's original construction permit listed Mt. Juliet, Tennessee as the city of license, but this was changed amid concerns of interference with radio communications at Nashville International Airport. Midwest Communications is a Wausau, Wisconsin-based radio broadcasting company. It owns 82 radio stations located primarily within the Midwest United States, in Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Illinois and Wisconsin. The company is a family-owned business and is headed by Duke Wright. History 1950s-1960s Midwest Communications began in Wausau, Wisconsin, with WRIG, Inc. and the acquisition by the Duey E. Wright family of a 1400 kHz, 250 watt AM facility from the Wisconsin Valley Television Corporation. The call letters WRIG (for Wright) were assigned and on August 1, 1958, top forty-formatted WRIG signed on the air. WCJK (96.3 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Murfreesboro, Tennessee and serving the Nashville metropolitan area. It airs an adult hits radio format and is owned by Midwest Communications, Inc. It subscribes to the nationally syndicated ''Jack FM'' service, using the slogan "Playing What We Want!"
