History It began in 1973 as WBSJ, a country music station, located just north of Ellisville. Upon its acquisition by Clear Channel, call letters and format were changed, and the studios moved to Laurel, Mississippi. WNSL (100.3 FM, "SL100") is a Top 40 music formatted radio station licensed to Laurel, Mississippi, serving the Laurel-Hattiesburg Arbitron market. Programming SL100 is an affiliate of the syndicated Johnjay and Rich. It is also an affiliate of the syndicated ''On Air with Ryan Seacrest'' and ''Dawson McAllister Live''. History WNSL-FM went on the air March 10, 1959, a simulcast of WNSL AM 1260 (today's WHJA at 890 AM). WNSL-AM-FM was founded by Granville Walters, a former news reporter and host at WAML, the first radio station in Laurel. Walters was the general manager of WNSL until 1983, and for most of those years, he reported the news in the morning drive slot. Ellisville, Mississippi
Ellisville is a town in and the first county seat of Jones County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 4,448 at the time of the 2010 census, up from 3,465 at the 2000 census. The Jones County Courthouse is located here, as is much of the county government. The state legislature authorized a second county seat at Laurel, to the northeast, which developed as the center of lumber and textile mills, with a much larger population. Urban adult contemporary, often abbreviated as urban AC or UAC, (also known as adult R&B,) is the name for a format of radio music, similar to an urban contemporary format. Radio stations using this format usually would not have hip hop music on their playlists, and generally include some mix of contemporary R&B and traditional R&B (while urban oldies stations emphasize only the latter).
