WHCF (88.5 FM broadcasting, FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Contemporary Christian format. WHCF was the first full-time Christian Radio station in Maine, and continues to broadcast today. WHCF is located on Outer Broadway in Bangor and is owned by Lighthouse Radio Network, Inc. WHCF's sister station is WHMX. Licensed to Bangor, Maine, United States, the station serves the Northern, Central, and Downeast Maine area. History & programming The station went on the air on 1981-08-10 as the current WHCF, The station has been known as playing a mix of Southern Gospel and Inspirational music, mixed in with 30-minute talk programs. WHMX (105.7 FM broadcasting, FM) is a Radio broadcasting, radio station broadcasting a Contemporary Christian format. Licensed to Lincoln, Maine, United States, the station serves the Northern and Downeast Maine area. The station is currently owned by Lighthouse Radio Network, Inc. History The station went on the air as WLKN-FM on April 1, 1975. On September 3, 1987, the station changed its call sign to WGUY, and on June 8, 1989, it became the current WHMX. The station for much of the 1990s was known as ''Hot Mix 106'' and in 1997 was bought out by Bangor Baptist church and paired with WHCF. Bangor ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Maine and the county seat of Penobscot County. The city proper has a population of 31,753, making it the state's 3rd-largest settlement, behind Portland (68,408) and Lewiston (37,121). Hodgdon is a rural town in Aroostook County, Maine, United States. The town borders the province of New Brunswick, Canada to the east and Houlton to the north.
