WGDN (AM)
WGDN (1350 AM) is a radio station licensed to Gladwin, Michigan broadcasting a religious format. It is a daytime only station broadcasting on a frequency of 1350 kHz at a power output of 250 watts, non-directional. History Beginnings WGDN's construction permit was issued on November 28, 1973, to Gladwin Broadcasting Company, headed by George Benko, a resident of Croswell, in Michigan's Thumb Area. Benko today owns Sanilac Broadcasting, licensee of WMIC, WTGV, and WBGV. The station made its debut on December 7, 1974 as WJEB, broadcasting a country music format. The station did broadcast on its current frequency, but did so using a two-tower directional antenna system, allowing it to operate with an output power of 1,000 watts, but still daytime only. The station's studios, offices and transmitter facility were located at 3601 West Woods Road in Gladwin, and remain there today. Gladwin, Michigan
Gladwin is a city in Gladwin County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,933 at the 2010 census. Gladwin is the county seat of Gladwin County. The city is at the southwest corner of Gladwin Township, but the two are administered autonomously. History Gladwin county is named for Henry Gladwin, a British military commander at Detroit during Pontiac's War. The county was named in 1831 and organized in 1875. Gladwin had its beginnings in 1875 during the Michigan lumber boom. Situated on the Cedar River, the city was named Cedar until it was discovered that another Michigan town shared the same name. Thereafter, the city was named after the county. The first church in Gladwin was a Methodist church completed on March 31, 1878. WMIC (660 AM) is a full service radio station licensed to Sandusky, Michigan at 660 kHz on the AM dial, with an power output of 1,000 watts. WMIC covers Sanilac County, Michigan and The Thumb area of Michigan. The station is owned by Sanilac/GB Broadcasting and broadcasts from studios on Elk Street in Downtown Sandusky, along with sister stations WTGV and WBGV. Its programming is also simulcasted on FM Translator W237EQ, also licensed to Sandusky at 95.3 MHz, with an effective radiated power of 250 watts. WTGV
WTGV-FM (97.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic hits/oldies format, serving Sandusky and the Thumb and Blue Water area of Michigan. WTGV is owned and operated by Sanilac Broadcasting. History The station began broadcasting in 1971 under the WMIC-FM call sign, simulcasting WMIC-AM 1560 (now 660). WMIC-FM separated programming in 1977, switching to a beautiful music format, and adopted the WTGV ("Thumb's Great Voice") call sign two years later. The beautiful music format was updated to a MOR music mix over the years, and then to mainstream adult contemporary by 2000. WTGV-FM was almost fully automated and voicetracked, except for simulcasts of news and information programming from its sister station WMIC (which are carried solely on WTGV after AM sign-off). WBGV (92.5 FM, "Country 92.5") is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Marlette, Michigan, it first began broadcasting in 1999. It serves the central area of Michigan's Thumb, and parts of the Blue Water Area. It can be heard as far away as Port Huron, Lapeer, Romeo, and Bad Axe. WBGV offers a wide range of modern country music, along with a Sunday classics show. It is an ABC affiliate, owned by G.B. Broadcasting. WBGV is an ABC Radio ''Today's Best Country'' station. ABC news updates are provided hourly and local news runs at noon, 5 and 6 pm.
