WGBI-LP
WGBI-LP, virtual and UHF digital channel 21, was a low-power Retro TV- affiliated television station licensed to Farmington, Maine, United States. The station was owned by the Global Broadcast Network, Inc. (not to be confused with the Global Television Network in Canada). History The station first signed on in June 1995 as W21BI, an owned-and-operated satellite repeater of the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Global Broadcast Network purchased the station in 2006, and changed the call letters to WGBI-LP. Upon flash-cutting to digital broadcasting on November 6, 2010, WGBI affiliated with RTV. Prior to its current use, the call letters WGBI were used on radio and television stations in Scranton, Pennsylvania from the 1920s until 2005. Farmington, Maine
Farmington is a town in and the county seat of Franklin County, Maine, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 7,592. Farmington is home to the University of Maine at Farmington, Nordica Memorial Auditorium, the Nordica Homestead, and the annual Farmington Fair. History The area was once territory of the Canibas tribe of Abenaki Indians. They had two camps located near Farmington Falls, with fields cleared for cultivation of maize and potatoes. Their fort's stockade enclosed about an acre at the center of what is today Farmington Falls village. In the broadcasting industry, an owned-and-operated station (frequently abbreviated as an O&O) usually refers to a television or radio station owned by the network with which it is associated. This distinguishes such a station from an affiliate, which is independently owned and carries network programming by contract. WYOU (channel 22) is a television station licensed to Scranton, Pennsylvania, United States, serving as the CBS affiliate for Northeastern Pennsylvania. It is owned by Mission Broadcasting, which maintains a shared services agreement (SSA) with Nexstar Media Group, owner of Wilkes-Barre–licensed NBC affiliate WBRE-TV (channel 28), for the provision of certain services. The two stations share studios on South Franklin Street in downtown Wilkes-Barre, with a news bureau and sales office next to WYOU's former studios on Lackawanna Avenue in downtown Scranton. WYOU's transmitter is located at the Penobscot Knob antenna farm near Mountain Top. WGGY (101.3 FM, "Froggy 101") is a commercial radio station licensed to serve Scranton, Pennsylvania. The station is owned by Audacy, Inc. and broadcasts a country music format. WGGY uses HD Radio, and broadcasts an AAA format on its HD2 subchannel. Froggy 101 received national attention through NBC's series, ''The Office'', with a Froggy 101 bumper sticker displayed on a filing cabinet beside Dwight Schrute's desk. Simulcasts and repeaters WGGY's programming is simulcast on booster stations WGGY-FM1, WGGY-FM2 and WGGY-FM3. Until November 16, 2017, the programming was also simulcast on full-power WGGI (95.9 FM). WAAF (AM)
WAAF (910 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Scranton, Pennsylvania. Owned by Audacy, Inc., WAAF airs a talk radio format. It is powered at 900 watts by day and 440 watts at night, using a non-directional antenna at all times. The transmitter is at the corner of Penn Avenue and Spruce Street, on the Scranton Times Building. In addition to a standard analog transmission, WAAF's programming is available online via Audacy. WAAF is one of four simulcast radio stations in Northeastern Pennsylvania that call themselves ''WILK Newsradio'', along with 103.1 WILK-FM in Avoca, 1300 WODS in West Hazleton and 980 WILK in Wilkes-Barre.
