WFTN-FM (Mix 94.1 FM) is a radio station based in central New Hampshire which airs a CHR music format. Broadcasting with 6,000 watts from Calef Hill in Tilton, the station's signal is perfectly situated to cover Central New Hampshire, including the cities of Laconia, Concord, and Franklin and nearby communities. Mix 94.1 FM is the heritage CHR in both the Lake Winnipesaukee Region and Concord areas, being one of the few stations in New Hampshire staffed with live and local air personalities during the day. WPNH-FM (100.1 MHz) is a commercial radio station located in Plymouth, New Hampshire. The station identifies itself as "100.1 The Planet" and airs active rock peppered with alternative rock and, more recently, classic rock. WPNH-FM originally transmitted from a hilltop in nearby Holderness until the late 1990s when the station's transmitter was moved to the top of Tenney Mountain in Plymouth by new owners. In January 2013, soon after another rock station in the area was purchased by new owners who immediately stopped broadcasting the show, WPNH-FM became the Central New Hampshire affiliate for ''The Free Beer and Hot Wings Show''. WPNH (AM)
WPNH and WFTN are commercial AM radio stations in Central New Hampshire. They are licensed to Plymouth (WPNH, 1300 kHz) and Franklin (WFTN 1240 kHz). The stations are branded as "Oldies 92.9" and simulcast an oldies format. Oldies 92.9's brand of oldies features an unusually deep and vast playlist offering the first generation of rock and roll of the 1960s. Oldies 92.9 also offers select hits from the late '50s and tops out musically into the early to mid '70s. The stations also carry Boston Red Sox during the baseball season. The studios are in Franklin, along with co-owned WPNH-FM, WFTN-FM and WSCY. Franklin is a city in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 8,741, the least of New Hampshire's 13 cities. Franklin includes the village of West Franklin. History Situated at the confluence of the Pemigewasset and Winnipesaukee rivers that form the Merrimack River, the town was settled by Anglo-European colonists in 1764 and originally known as "Pemigewasset Village". It was taken from portions of Salisbury, Andover, Sanbornton and Northfield. The name "Franklin" was adopted in 1820 in honor of statesman and founding father Benjamin Franklin. Water power from the falls on the Winnipesaukee River helped it develop as a mill town. It incorporated as a town in 1828, and then as a city in 1895. The Lakes Region of New Hampshire is located in the east-central part of the state, south of the White Mountains Region and extending to the Maine border.
