WFDR (1370 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic hits format. It is licensed to serve Manchester, Georgia, United States, south-southwest of metro Atlanta. The station is currently owned by Legacy Media Holdings, LLC. The stations' call letters WFDR are a reference to former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who had his Little White House vacation home in nearby Warm Springs, Georgia. As of September 12, 2016, WFDR is being relayed on FM translator W247CJ at 97.3 MHz. In or around 2019, Christopher Murray's Georgia Radio Alliance acquired WFDR and flipped it to "Fox FM" with a Classic Hits format resembling its Macon/Warner Robins area sister station WBML. In January 2021, WFDR began simulcasting on 102.1 W271CV in Atlanta via 96.1 WWPW-HD4. Manchester is a town in Meriwether County, Georgia, Meriwether and Talbot County, Georgia, Talbot Counties in the U.S. state of Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia, although primarily in Meriwether. The population was 4,230 at the 2010 census. CSX Transportation runs a railroad yard in Manchester. History Manchester was founded in 1907, when the Atlanta, Birmingham and Atlantic Railway was extended northward to that point; it was merged into the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in 1946. From Manchester the railroad diverged, with one line going to Atlanta and another to Birmingham, Alabama, Birmingham. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Manchester as a city in 1909. WBML (AM)
WYPZ (900 kHz) is an AM radio station broadcasting an urban gospel format. Licensed to Macon, Georgia, US, the station serves the Macon area. The station went on the air as WCRY on November 25, 1957. It was owned by William H. Loudermilk and initially had a format aimed at Black listeners. The call sign was changed to WDDO in 1977, when WCRY was forced to stop simulcasting with the FM. It then exchanged frequencies and licenses with country music station WBML (1240 AM) in 1978, resulting in WBML being heard on 900 and WDDO's format and call sign moving to 1240. Warm Springs, Georgia
Warm Springs is a city in Meriwether County, Georgia, United States. The population was 425 at the 2010 census. History Warm Springs, originally named Bullochville (after the Bulloch family, which began after Stephen Bullock moved to Meriwether County in 1806 from Edgecombe County, North Carolina), first came to prominence in the 19th century as a spa town, because of its mineral springs which flow constantly at nearly 90 °F (32 °C). Residents of Georgia, particularly Savannah, began spending vacations at Bullochville in the late 18th century as a way to escape yellow fever, finding the number of warm springs in the vicinity of Bullochville very attractive. The Little White House was the personal retreat of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the List of Presidents of the United States, 32nd President of the United States, located in the Warm Springs Historic District, Historic District of Warm Springs, Georgia, Warm Springs, Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia. He first came to Warm Springs (formerly known as Bullochville) in 1924 for polio treatment, and liked the area so much that, Governorship of Franklin D.
