WCRU
WCRU (960 kHz) is an AM radio station licensed to Dallas, North Carolina and serving the Charlotte metropolitan area. The station broadcasts a Christian talk and teaching radio format and is owned by the Truth Broadcasting Corporation. WCRU carries a mix of national and local pastors. WDRU (1030 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Christian radio format. Licensed to Creedmoor, North Carolina, United States, the station serves the Raleigh, North Carolina area. The station is owned by Truth Broadcasting Corporation. WDRU broadcasts Wake Forest Demon Deacons sports programming, beginning with the 2012 football season. WGTL (870 AM) was a radio station licensed to Kannapolis, North Carolina. It operated on 870 kHz with a power of 1,000 watts daytime, non-directional. The call letters were chosen to represent a common slogan for its city of license, "World's Greatest Textile Land." WGTL has been off the air since 1992. History The beginnings The 870 frequency in the Charlotte market first went on the air with the call letters WGTL in 1946, it was owned and operated by Fred H. Whitley. The station is the flagship of the "Truth Network," including WDRU in the Research Triangle, WCRU in Charlotte, WLES in Richmond, Virginia, and KUTR in Salt Lake City. WLES (590 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Bon Air, Virginia, serving the Greater Richmond Region. WLES is owned and operated by Stuart Epperson, through licensee Truth Broadcasting Corporation. It airs a Christian radio format, as part of "The Truth Network." This station was once licensed to Lawrenceville, near the Virginia-North Carolina border. It had been a daytimer station on AM 580, with an oldies format. Adrian Pierce Rogers (September 12, 1931 – November 15, 2005) was an American Southern Baptist pastor and conservative author. He served three terms as president of the Southern Baptist Convention (1979–1980 and 1986–1988). Rogers was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. He entered Christian ministry at the age of nineteen.
