WCOQ (101.9 FM broadcasting, FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Christian radio format. Licensed to Alfred (village), New York, Alfred, New York, United States, the station is currently owned by Family Life Network. From 1999 to 2021, WCOQ was WZKZ, inheriting a call sign and country music format that had previously been heard on WNKI in Corning, New York. It was owned by Robert Pfunter's Pembrook Pines Media Group until Pfunter sold the station to Waypoint Media, Sound Communications in the mid-2010s. The station's call sign was changed to WCOQ on June 17, 2021. In July 2021, WCOQ was included on a list of stations Family Life Network intended to acquire from Sound as part of its exit from New York radio. The Family Life Network is a Christian radio network simulcasting via FM stations across Western and Central New York, as well as northern Pennsylvania from flagship station WCIK. It is owned and operated by the larger Family Life Ministries of Bath, New York. Founded in 1957, FLM is an accredited member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). Family Life is a listener-supported outreach with about 95% of its operating revenue coming directly from listeners, participants, and supporting churches. Alfred is a village located in the town of Alfred in Allegany County, New York, United States. The population was 4,174 at the 2010 census. The village lies in the north-central part of the town of Alfred on the eastern edge of Allegany County. It is named after Alfred the Great. Alfred is located in the hills of western New York along the Southern Tier. The layout of the valley is such that the lowest part contains the village, and upon the hills to the east and west are Alfred University and Alfred State College, respectively. FM broadcasting is a method of radio broadcasting using frequency modulation (FM). WNKI (106.1 FM, "Wink 106") is a radio station broadcasting a Top 40 (CHR) format. Licensed to Corning, New York, United States, the station serves the Elmira-Corning area, and is the Arbitron #1 rated station in the market. The station is currently owned by Seven Mountains Media, which closed on its $3.9 million acquisition of the station April 1, 2019, from Community Broadcasters, LLC.
