WCMP (1350 AM) is a radio station in Pine City, Minnesota. It has a classic country format, and broadcasts 24 hours a day. The station first signed on in 1957. It started out as a Full Service MOR station broadcasting only through the day hours, but transformed into Full Service AC in the mid-1980s. It is owned by Alan R. Quarnstrom, through licensee Q Media Properties, and has studios at 15429 Pokegama Lake Rd. This facility is shared with sister station WCMP-FM. Its signal can be heard with in a six-county area. World Congress Of Muslim Philanthropists
The World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists (WCMP) was formed to help Islamic donors and nonprofit groups and other Muslims around the globe to organize contributions to humanitarian causes. It estimates that Muslims contribute anywhere from $20 billion to $200 billion annually. Much of the charity goes unnoticed because of secrecy and lack of infrastructure to regulate it. The WCMP was started by Tariq H. Cheema, a Pakistani doctor who lives in Illinois. After years of nonprofit work, including assisting victims of the 2005 Pakistan earthquake, Mr. Cheema said he saw the need to bring together the world's Islamic donors. The group will most likely be based in the United States with a second office in Turkey or another Muslim nation. Pine City, Minnesota
Pine City is a city in and the county seat of Pine County, in east central Minnesota, United States. The population was 3,130 at the 2020 census. A portion of the city is located on the Mille Lacs Indian Reservation. Founded as a railway town, it quickly became a logging community and the surrounding lakes made it a resort town. Today, it exists in part as a commuter town to jobs in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. History The Dakota Indians were the first in the area.
