Chillicothe ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Ross County, Ohio, United States. Located along the Scioto River 45 miles (72 km) south of Columbus, Chillicothe was the first and third capital of Ohio. It is the only city in Ross County and is the center of the Chillicothe, OH Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 22,059 at the 2020 census. WQLX (106.5 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a hot adult contemporary format. Licensed to Chillicothe, Ohio, United States, it formerly broadcast country music from Hillsboro, Ohio at 106.7 FM. The station is currently owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and features programming from their Premium Choice network dubbed "Today's Mix". The station effectively replaced the former "Mix 94.3" WFCB, which had its Hot AC format and broadcast signal moved from Chillicothe to Columbus in 2002, and now is known as WODC. WKKJ (94.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Chillicothe, Ohio, United States. The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and features local news and high school sports with agricultural news from ABN Radio. History On December 22, 1978, WFCB signed on the air. It was owned by Terins Enterprises and was powered at only 3,000 watts. It could only be heard in Chillicothe and nearby communities. In 1989, it was acquired by the Wyandot Radio Corporation, which also owned WCHI. When Clear Channel Communications acquired WFCB, it switched the format to oldies.
