WARM (foundation)
WARM is an international foundation working on the world’s contemporary conflicts, based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Description WARM is dedicated to war reporting and war art, as well as history and memories of war, and dedicated to the promotion of emerging talents and to education. WARM works to bring together people with a common passion for "telling the story with excellence and integrity". The WARM community is an international network of reporters, artists, researchers and activists. WARM supports projects worldwide. WARM is organizing a WARM Festival and a WARM Academy every year in Sarajevo. Vaughan Smith
Henry Vaughan Lockhart Smith (born 22 July 1963) is an English restaurateur, sustainable farmer, and freelance video journalist. He ran the freelance agency Frontline News TV and founded the Frontline Club in London. ''The Guardian'' has described him as "a former army officer, journalist adventurer and rightwing libertarian." Early life Smith's father was a Queen's Messenger and a colonel in the Grenadier Guards. Smith was an officer in the same regiment, serving in Northern Ireland, Cyprus and Germany. Moises Saman
Moises Saman (born 1974) is a Spanish-Peruvian photographer, based in Tokyo. He is considered "one of the leading conflict photographers of his generation" and is a full member of Magnum Photos. Saman is best known for his photographs from Iraq. His book ''Discordia'' (2016) is about the revolution in Egypt and the broader Arab Spring. ''Glad Tidings of Benevolence'' (2023) is about the Iraq War. Saman has won multiple awards from World Press Photo and Pictures of the Year International, and has received a Guggenheim Fellowship. Šejla Kamerić
Šejla Kamerić (born 1976) is a Bosnian visual artist. Early life and education Šejla Kamerić was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a child she lived in Dubai, where her father was working for several years as a volleyball coach. Her family returned to Sarajevo in the wake of the Yugoslav wars. When the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina started Šejla Kamerić was just 16 years old with a successful career as a model for local and international fashion magazines and brands. She continued her modeling career during the early years of war. Abounaddara
Abounaddara (translated as "the man with glasses") is a Syrian video art collective best known for its documentation of life in Syria. The collective's members are self-taught and anonymous. At the start of the Syrian popular uprising, Abounaddara posted a new short video on Vimeo in April 2011 and distributed it via social media every Friday. Their films are the antithesis of amateur footage from the Syrian civil war, often recorded by a shaky camera, with a poor or completely unnoticed tone of a moment of intense violence or emotional release. They won the 2014 Vera List Center Prize for Art and Politics. Danis Tanović
Danis Tanović (born 20 February 1969) is a Bosnian film director and screenwriter. He is best known for having directed and written the script for the 2001 Bosnian movie '' No Man's Land'' which won him many awards, including an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and a Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film among many others. Velma Šarić (born 8 April 1979) is a Bosnian journalist and the founder and president of the Post-Conflict Research Center – a peace building organization, based in Sarajevo, which works to cultivate an environment for sustainable peace in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the greater Balkans region. As a trained researcher, journalist, and human rights defender, she has dedicated her career to investigative reporting and peace building in the Balkans. Nihad Kreševljaković
Nihad Kreševljaković (born 24 February 1973) is a Bosnian historian, producer, screenwriter and director of the Sarajevo War Theatre. Biography Kreševljaković was born in Sarajevo, SFR Yugoslavia. He enrolled at the University of Sarajevo, Faculty of Philosophy where he studied history. He graduated in 1999, before earning his post-graduate degree from the same institution four years later. He further studied Comparative literature. He has worked as a producer for the MESS International Theatre Festival, before being named director of the festival.
