The Sony Ericsson W880i is a mobile phone that was announced on 6 February 2007 and released in spring 2007. Part of Sony Ericsson's Walkman series, the phone has been popular due to its tiny dimensions and low weight. At only 9.4 mm thick, the W880 was one of the few phones on the market that were thinner than 1 cm (10 mm), the other notable example being the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic from later that year. The W880i is available in three different colour schemes; "Flame Black", "Steel Silver" and "Pitch Black". There is a fourth color scheme, "Gold", which is exclusively available to Vodafone. There is also a non-3G version of the phone; the Sony Ericsson W888c. The W810 (also available as the W810i and W810c) is a camera phone produced by Sony Ericsson. It was released in January 2006. It is the successor of the W800. Features The W810 is part of Sony Ericsson's Walkman line of mobile phones. While being similar to the W800, the W810 benefited from several improvements. Most notably are quad band connectivity, EDGE support for faster wireless data transfers, a light level sensor, a slightly enhanced display, but slightly reduced battery life. The Sony Ericsson W890i is a high-end mobile phone released on March 3, 2008. It is available in the colours of "''Mocha Brown''", "''Sparkling Silver''" and "''Espresso Black''", at 9.9 mm thick. It shares many design clues with the original iPhone, mainly on the rear. Its casing is made up of highly polished aluminium with little use of plastic. Features The phone incorporates a 3.2-megapixel camera taking photos in 2048x1536px resolution without flash or autofocus and video is recorded at QVGA resolution. An FM radio, which was lacking on the W880i, is also included. The phone utilises version 3.0 of the Walkman system software and includes SensMe technology, whereby the user can select which mood of music they would like to listen to. The Sony Ericsson W850i is the first 3G sliding form factor mobile phone by Sony Ericsson, introduced in Q2 2006. It is a member of their Walkman line. The phone made its first public appearance in the 2006 movie '' The Da Vinci Code'', months before its release. The Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR, AMR-NB or GSM-AMR) audio codec is an audio compression format optimized for speech coding. AMR speech codec consists of a multi-rate narrowband speech codec that encodes narrowband (200–3400 Hz) signals at variable bit rates ranging from 4.75 to 12.2 kbit/s with toll quality speech starting at 7.4 kbit/s. AMR was adopted as the standard speech codec by 3GPP in October 1999 and is now widely used in GSM and UMTS.
