W. T. And Idalia Reid Prize
The W. T. and Idalia Reid Prize is an annual award presented by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) for outstanding research in, or other contributions to, the broadly defined areas of Differential equation, differential equations and control theory. It was established in 1994 in memory of long-time University of Oklahoma mathematics professor W. T. Reid (professor), W. T. Reid, who died in 1977. Society For Industrial And Applied Mathematics
Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) is a professional society dedicated to applied mathematics, computational science, and data science through research, publications, and community. SIAM is the world's largest scientific society devoted to applied mathematics, and roughly two-thirds of its membership resides within the United States. Founded in 1951, the organization began holding annual national meetings in 1954, and now hosts conferences, publishes books and scholarly journals, and engages in advocacy in issues of interest to its membership. Members include engineers, scientists, and mathematicians, both those employed in academia and those working in industry. The society supports educational institutions promoting applied mathematics. Robert John McCann
Robert John McCann is a Canadian mathematician, known for his work in transportation theory. He has worked as a professor at the University of Toronto since 1998, and as Canada Research Chair in Mathematics, Economics, and Physics since 2020. Life and work McCann was raised in Windsor, Ontario. He studied engineering and physics at Queen's University before graduating with a degree in math, and earned a PhD in mathematics from Princeton University in 1994. Karl Kunisch
Karl Kunisch (born September 16, 1952 in Linz) is an Austrian mathematician. Life and work Kunisch studied mathematics at the Graz University of Technology and at the Northwestern University, Evanston, USA. After his doctorate in 1978 at the Graz University of Technology on the topic of neutral functional-differential equations and semigroup theory, he obtained his habilitation in 1980 at the same university. In the following years, he repeatedly held visiting professor positions at the Lefschetz Center for Dynamical Systems of Brown University, USA. From 1986 to 1993, Kunisch held a professor position at the Graz University of Technology before moving to the Technical University of Berlin. Roland Glowinski
Roland Glowinski (9 March 1937 – 26 January 2022) was a French-American mathematician. He obtained his PhD in 1970 from Jacques-Louis Lions and was known for his work in applied mathematics, in particular numerical solution and applications of partial differential equations and variational inequalities. He was a member of the French Academy of Sciences and held an endowed chair at the University of Houston from 1985. Glowinski wrote many books on the subject of mathematics. Miroslav Krstić (Serbian Cyrillic: ''Мирослав Крстић'') is an American control theorist and Distinguished Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Volker Ludwig Mehrmann (born 1955) is a German mathematician. Education and career At Bielefeld University he completed his PhD in 1982 under Ludwig Elsner and his Habilitation in 1987 with a dissertation on control theory. Mehrmann was from 1990 to 1992 a ''Vertretungsprofessor'' (interim professor) at the RWTH Aachen University. From 1993 to 2000 he was a professor at the Chemnitz University of Technology. Jean-Michel Coron
Jean-Michel Coron (born August 8, 1956) is a French people, French mathematician. He first studied at École Polytechnique, where he worked on his PhD thesis advised by Haïm Brezis. Since 1992, he has studied the control theory of partial differential equations, and which includes both control and stabilization. His results concern partial differential equations related to fluid dynamics, with emphasis on nonlinear phenomena, and part of them found applications to control channels. He had previously worked in the field of non-linear functional analysis, where he also obtained significant results. Francis Clarke (mathematician)
Frank "Francis" H. Clarke (born 30 July 1948, in Montreal) is a Canadian and French mathematician. Biography Francis Clarke graduated in 1969 from McGill University with a B.Sc. degree in 1969 and in 1973 from the University of Washington with a Ph.D. with thesis advisor R. Tyrrell Rockafellar. In 1978 Clarke became a full professor at the University of British Columbia and gave an invited lecture at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in Helsinki. In 1984 he was appointed director of the ''Centre de Recherches Mathématiques'' (CRM) of the University of Montreal. Alain Bensoussan, born on 12 May 1940 in Tunis, is a French mathematician. He is Professor Emeritus at the University of Paris-Dauphine and Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas.
