W.A.K.O. World Championships 2007 (Belgrade)
W.A.K.O. World Championships 2007 in Belgrade were the joint 16th edition of the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations, W.A.K.O. world championships - the second event would be held later that year in Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal. They were for amateur male and female kickboxers and covered the following categories; K-1, Low-Kick and Light-Contact. Weight classes for men ranged from light bantamweight (51 kg or 112 lb) to super heavyweight (over 91 kg or 200.6 lb), while the women's ranged from featherweight (52 kg or 114.6 lb) to super heavyweight (over 70 kg or 154 lb). More information on the categories, weight classes and rules is provided in the various sections below. In total there were 1085 athletes at the championships, representing sixty countries including China (taking part for the first time), fighting in 49 tournaments. World Association Of Kickboxing Organizations
The World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (W.A.K.O or WAKO) is an international kickboxing organization counting over 120 affiliated countries representing all five continents. WAKO is a major governing body of amateur kickboxing and is responsible for the development of kickboxing worldwide. The organization was officially recognized as an official kickboxing governing body by Sport Accord. WAKO is recognized by the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Ivan Stanić
Ivan Stanić (born May 28, 1983) is a Croatian cruiserweight Muay Thai kickboxer, former W.B.C. Muaythai world champion and King of the Ring muay thai world champion. Personal life Stanić has finished Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija. He is also student of University of Zagreb Faculty of Kinesiology for specialist graduate professional study. Nicole Trimmel
Nicole Trimmel (born October 13, 1982), is an Austrian kickboxer. She is a multiple World Champion and European Champion in Kickboxing. Since 2004 she holds the title of Austrian Champion in Kickboxing for each year. In 2004 and 2005 she was awarded Burgenland’s Sportswoman of the Year. The following year, Trimmel received an Order of Merit by the Republic of Austria and by the Federal State Burgenland respectively. Igor Jurković (born 15 July 1985) is a Croatian heavyweight kickboxer fighting out of Poreč, Croatia. He was 6 times Croatian national champion 2004, 2005, 2006 in Thai boxing, and kickboxing champion 2005 in full contact, 2005 and 2006 in low kick rules, and also was sparring partner of Mirko Cro Cop. Nenad Pagonis
Nenad Pagonis ( sr-cyr, Ненад Пагонис; born 28 July 1987) is a Serbian cruiserweight kickboxer fighting out of Mike's Gym in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Team Pagonis in Novi Sad, Serbia. In 2010 he became W.A.K.O. Pro world champion (K-1 rules). He won a number of world and European titles at amateur level. Biography and career Pagonis is of Greek paternal descent. In 2006, at the age of 19, he won a gold medal at the yearly Balkan Bames, and won gold at the W.A.K.O. European championships held in Macedonia. Michał Głogowski
Michał Głogowski (born May 25, 1984) is a Polish welterweight kickboxer fighting out of Siedlce for TKKF Siedlce. He is the WKN Low Kick World Champion and the K-1 Europe MAX 2008 in Poland runner up. Amateur career Michal won his first amateur international competition representing Poland at the W.A.K.O. European Championships 2004 in Budva, Montenegro. He defeated all three of his opponents at the championship by decision to take the gold medal in the 71 kg Low Kick rules category. The following year he entered the W.A.K.O. World Cup 2005 held in Piacenza, Italy.
