Víkingur Gøta
Víkingur is a semi-professional association football, football club in the Faroe Islands. The club was founded in 2008 after the merger of GÍ Gøta and Leirvík ÍF. The club is based in Leirvík, while the Serpugerði Stadium, stadium is in Norðragøta. Both villages are part of the same municipality Eysturkommuna, located on the island of Eysturoy and about 5 kilometers away from each other. The club won the Faroese championship for the first time in the 2016 season. In the 2017 season, Vikingur won the championship again. History Víkingur was founded on 14 January 2008 with the merger of Faroe Islands Premier League, first division GÍ Gøta and 1. deild, second division club Leirvík ÍF. B68 Toftir is a Faroese football club, playing in the village of Toftir in Betri deildin. History After being promoted to the 1. deild (now called Effodeildin) in 1980, they won the league 3 times: in 1984, 1985, and 1992. In 2004 they were relegated. 2005 saw them bounce back to the top flight, coming first in the second division, but they were again relegated from the Premier Division at end of the 2006 season. In 2007, they easily won the second division, and were promoted. In the 2008 season, they came 6th out of 10 in the Premier League. In the 2009 season, they finished in 4th place. In 2010, they finished as number 7 in the Effodeildin, and in 2011, they finished as number 6. In 2012, B68 Toftir ended as number 9 in Effodeildin and were relegated: they only needed to score one more goal against TB Tvøroyri in the final round to stay up. Finnur Justinussen
Finnur Justinussen (born 30 March 1989) is a Faroese footballer who plays for Víkingur Gøta and the Faroe Islands national team. Club career He began his career with local club GÍ Gøta. After GÍ Gøta and Leirvík ÍF merged in 2008, he played for the newly formed club Víkingur. He scored 19 goals in the 2009 season, making him the league top goalscorer. During the 2010 season he scored 7 league goals and 3 in the Faroese Cup. In 2011, he was top scorer again, with 21 goals. Having previously been on trials with Swedish Allsvenskan clubs Örebro SK and Trelleborgs FF, Finnur trialed with Superettan club Jönköpings Södra IF in late 2011. EB/Streymur is a Faroe Islands, Faroese semi-professional association football, football club based in Streymnes and Eiði. The club was founded in 1993, as result of the merger between Eiðis Bóltfelag, EB and Ítróttarfelagið Streymur, Streymur. 2009 Faroe Islands Cup
The 2009 Faroe Islands Cup started on 28 March 2009 and ended on 29 July 2009. The defending champions were two-time winners EB/Streymur. Only the first teams of Faroese football clubs are allowed to participate. The Preliminary Round involved only teams from first, second and third deild. NSÍ Runavík
NSÍ Runavík is a Faroese football club, playing in Runavík on the island of Eysturoy. It was founded 24 March 1957. In 2003 NSÍ participated for the first time on a European stage. In 2007, the club won the Faroe Islands Premier League for the first time. The club has won the Faroe Islands Cup in 1986, 2002 and 2017. Aside from these instances, NSÍ Runavík featured in the 1980, 1985, 1988, 2004 and 2015 tournament finals. The club plays in yellow and black. Their stadium ( Við Løkin) has a capacity of 2,000. Penalty Shootout (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds.
