Väsby Simsällskap, commonly known as Väsby SS or VSS, is a swimming club from Upplands Väsby north of Stockholm, Sweden. It was founded in 1964 and the home pool is Vilundabadet. Väsby SS is one of the major Swedish swim teams finishing in the top by medals on the latest Swedish Swimming Championships. Upplands Väsby () is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Upplands Väsby Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 149,463 inhabitants in 2020. History The municipality has a long history with clear traces of settlements from the pre-Christian times in several places. The first traces of human culture have been found during excavations of Hammarby ridge, about 400 meters south of the current Glädjen junction, where the excavation of the burial ground Ekebo found a bronze axe from around 600 to 700 BC. Swedish Swimming Championships
The Swedish Swimming Championships () are held annually in the Swedish summer in outdoor 50 m pool. The championships sometimes also works as trials for the Summer Olympics, World Championships and European Championships. Swimmers representing Swedish swim teams may participate. Daniel Carlsson (born 14 November 1976) is a former swimmer from Sweden. He won gold medals in 4 × 50 m medley relay at the 1998 and 1999 European Short Course Swimming Championships (making a new world best time the first time) and 4 × 50 m freestyle at 1998. Petra Granlund (born 15 October 1987) is a swimmer from Valla, representing Väsby SS. Malin Svahnström (born 10 June 1980) is a Swedish Olympic swimmer currently representing Väsby SS. Svahnström participated in the 2000 Summer Olympics and the 2004 Summer Olympics, both times as a part of a relay team.
