The Argeș () is a river in Southern Romania, a left tributary of the Danube. It is long, and its basin area is . Its source is in the Făgăraș Mountains, in the Southern Carpathians and it flows into the Danube at Oltenița. Its average discharge at the mouth is . The main city on the Argeș is Pitești. Upstream, it is retained by the Vidraru Dam, which has created Lake Vidraru. Its upper course, upstream of Lake Vidraru, is also called ''Capra''. Merișani
Merișani is a commune in Argeș County, Muntenia, Romania. It is composed of nine villages: Borlești, Brăteasca, Capu Piscului, Crâmpotani, Dobrogostea, Malu Vânăt, Merișani, Vărzaru and Vâlcelele. History Humans have inhabited the area that now belongs to the commune since the Neolithic. In the Middle Ages, the oldest written evidence is from 1428. The church in Vărzaru village was built around 1620. Location The commune is situated in the centre of Argeș County, at about 15 km from Pitești and 25 km to Curtea de Argeș. Făgăraș Mountains
The Făgăraș Mountains ( ro, Munții Făgărașului ; hu, Fogarasi-havasok) are the highest mountains of the Southern Carpathians, in Romania. Romanichthys Valsanicola
''Romanichthys'' is a genus of ray-finned fish, one of two genera in the tribe Romanichthyini, which along with the tribe Luciopercini, forms the subfamily Luciopercinae of the family Percidae, alongside the perches, ruffes, and darters. The genus contains the single species ''Romanichthys valsanicola'', known as the sculpin-perch, asprete, or Romanian darter. This fish was described in 1957 by Romanian student scientists M. Dumitrescu, P. Bănărescu, and N. Stoica. Local names include ''asprete'', ''poprete'', and ''sforete''. Endemic to a very restricted area in southern Romania, it was found in the upper reach of the Argeş River and in two of its tributaries: Râul Doamnei and Vâlsan.
