Volvo Open Championship
The Volvo Open di Firenze was a men's professional golf tournament on the European Tour which was played in Italy from 1989 to 1992. The first edition took place in Sardinia and was called the Volvo Open Championship, with the other three taking place in Florence, and being named for that city. The most notable winner was future World Number 1 Vijay Singh of Fiji Fiji ( , ,; fj, Viti, ; Fiji Hindi: फ़िजी, ''Fijī''), officially the Republic of Fiji, is an island country in Melanesia, part of Oceania in the South Pacific Ocean. 1991 European Tour
The 1991 European Tour, titled as the 1991 Volvo Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 20th official season of golf tournaments known as the PGA European Tour. The season was originally made up of 38 tournaments counting for the Order of Merit, and eight non-counting "Approved Special Events". The Order of Merit was won by Spain's Seve Ballesteros for the sixth time, having previously won in 1976, 1977, 1978, 1986 and 1988. Changes for 1991 There were several changes from the previous season, with the return of both the Catalan Open and the Jersey Open; the addition of the Girona Open; the loss of the Tenerife Open; and the Scandinavian Enterprise Open and the PLM Open were merged to create the Scandinavian Masters. Peter Fowler
Peter Randall Fowler (born 9 June 1959) is an Australian golfer who plays on the PGA Tour of Australasia and European Senior Tour. Career Fowler was born in Hornsby, New South Wales. He turned professional in 1977 and won the Australian Open in 1983. He has spent a large part of his career playing on the European Tour, where he made the top one hundred on the Order of Merit every year from 1983 to 1993, with a best ranking of 22nd in 1989. It marked the tour's first visit to Asia, with the inaugural Karl Litten Desert Classic. The season was made up of 33 tournaments counting for the Order of Merit, and ten non-counting "Approved Special Events". The Order of Merit was won by Northern Ireland's Ronan Rafferty. Colin Montgomerie
Colin Stuart Montgomerie, Order of the British Empire, OBE (born 23 June 1963) is a Scotland, Scottish professional golfer. He has won a record eight European Tour PGA European Tour#Order of Merit winners, Order of Merit titles, including a streak of seven consecutively from 1993 to 1999. Russell Claydon
Russell Claydon (born 19 November 1965) is an English professional golfer. Claydon was born in Cambridge, England. He won the English Amateur in 1988 and turned professional in 1989. He played on the European Tour from 1989 to 2004. He was in the top one hundred on the Order of Merit every year from 1990 to 1999, with a best placing of twentieth in 1997. He had six second place tournament finishes on the tour before picking up his first and only win at the 1998 BMW International Open. Claydon struggled for form in the new Millennium and by 2005 he was playing few tournaments. However, he remained involved with the European Tour as a member of its board of directors.
