Volleyball At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's tournament in volleyball at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the 15th edition of the event at the Summer Olympics, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB, in conjunction with the IOC. It was held in Tokyo, Japan from 24 July to 7 August 2021. It was originally scheduled to take place from 25 July to 8 August 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IOC and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee announced on 24 March 2020 that the 2020 Summer Olympics would be delayed to 2021. Because of this pandemic, all matches were played behind closed doors. France won their first gold and overall medal with a 3–2 win over the Russian team that competed as the ROC. Argentina won the bronze medal in a narrow 3–2 victory over Brazil. Ariake Arena
The Ariake Arena is a multi-sport venue located in Ariake, Tokyo, Japan. It served as the volleyball venue for the 2020 Summer Olympics and the wheelchair basketball knockout stage at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. This was the replacement of the Differ Ariake which was closed and demolished in June 2016. History The Ariake Arena was one of the six permanent facilities designed to be built in the district of Ariake in order to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Its construction began in January 2017 and was completed in December 2019. The total cost of the project was around 35 billion yen (about $320 million) and it has the capacity 12,000 spectators, which can be expanded to a max capacity of 15,000 with temporary seating. Bernard Rajzman
Bernard Rajzman (born April 25, 1957) is a former Brazilian volleyball player. He was born in Rio de Janeiro. He was enshrined in the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2005. Nowadays, Bernard is a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Rajzman began his sports career at the age of 11, playing basketball for Fluminense, but traded the sport for volleyball because he was too short. At the age of 17 he entered the Brazil men's national volleyball team, for which he played in three Olympics, winning a silver medal in Los Angeles 1984. He also won seven South American Championships, one gold medal at the 1983 Pan-American Games, silver in the 1982 FIVB Men's World Championship and bronze in the 1981 Volleyball World Cup. Russia Men's National Volleyball Team
The Russia men's national volleyball team is governed by the Russian Volleyball Federation and took part in international volleyball competitions. FIVB considers Russia as the inheritor of the records of Soviet Union (1948–1991) and CIS (1992). Ary da Silva Graça Filho is a Brazilian former volleyball player and the current president of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB). He was a member of Brazil’s national team from 1963 to 1968.
