The Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG) ( Montenegrin: Odbojkaški savez Crne Gore) is the governing body of volleyball in Montenegro. It is based in Podgorica. It organizes the volleyball leagues: * Montenegrin women's volley league * Montenegrin men volleyball league * Montenegrin women's second volleyball League * Montenegrin Cup / women * Montenegrin Cup / men It also organizes the Montenegrin national volleyball team and the Montenegro national women's volleyball team. The biggest result is winning title in European League 2014, after beating Greece in final. After that, Montenegro team qualified for first ever appearance in FIVB World League 2015. Men National Team of Montenegro competed in FIVB World League 2015 for the first time in their history. They played in 3rd group in pool F with Turkey, Tunis and Puerto Rico. Montenegrin Language
Montenegrin ( ; cnr, label=none, / ) is a normative variety of the Serbo-Croatian language mainly used by Montenegrins and is the official language of Montenegro. Montenegrin is based on the most widespread dialect of Serbo-Croatian, Shtokavian, more specifically on Eastern Herzegovinian, which is also the basis of Standard Croatian, Serbian, and Bosnian. Montenegro's language has historically and traditionally been called either Serbian or Montenegrin. The idea of a standardized Montenegrin standard language separate from Serbian appeared in the 1990s during the breakup of Yugoslavia, through proponents of Montenegrin independence from the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. Podgorica
Podgorica (Cyrillic: Подгорица, ; lit. 'under the hill') is the capital and largest city of Montenegro. The city was formerly known as Titograd (Cyrillic: Титоград, ) between 1946 and 1992—in the period that Montenegro formed, as the Socialist Republic of Montenegro in honour of Marshal Josip Broz Tito. The city was largely destroyed during the bombing of Podgorica in World War II and accordingly the city is now dominated by architecture from the following decades of communism. The Montenegrin Women's Volley League ( Montenegrin: ''Prva crnogorska ženska odbojkaška liga''), is the highest professional women's volleyball league in Montenegro. It is run by the Montenegrin Volleyball Federation. History Before independence First volleyball competitions for women in Montenegro were organised at first half of 90's. At the time of FR Yugoslavia, Montenegrin Republic Volleyball Federation organised Republic League, with first season at 1995. Winners of Montenegrin Republic League (1995–2006) were: AOK Rudar Pljevlja (3), ŽOK Podgorica (3), ŽOK Budućnost Podgorica (2), ŽOK Ibar Rožaje (1), ŽOK Nikšić (1) and ŽOK Studentski centar Podgorica (1). The Montenegrin Volleyball League ( montenegrin: ''Odbojkaški savez Crne Gore'') is the highest level of men's volleyball in Montenegro and it is organized by Montenegrin Volleyball Federation. In the Montenegrin Volleyball League currently competes 8 clubs. History Before independence In the period before independence, Montenegrin volleyball clubs played in SFR Yugoslavia, FR Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro competitions. From the season 1980-81, OK Budućnost from Podgorica became a permanent member of Second Yugoslav League, where other Montenegrin teams also played one or few seasons (''Budvanska Rivijera, Rudar Pljevlja, Brskovo Mojkovac, Lovćen Cetinje''). The Montenegrin volleyball Cup ( Montenegrin: ''Kup Crne Gore u odbojci'') is the national volleyball cup for men teams played in Montenegro. Inaugural season of Cup is held on season 2006-07, after the independence of Montenegro. History Montenegrin clubs in Yugoslav Cup Before Montenegrin independence, clubs from that Republic played in the national volleyball Cup of Yugoslavia / Serbia and Montenegro. Most successful participants were Budvanska Rivijera and Budućnost Podgorica with three trophies won. First significant success of Montenegrin teams in Yugoslav Cup came on season 1997-98, as Budvanska Rivijera participated in the final-four, but eliminated against Vojvodina ''(0-3)'' in semifinals. Montenegro Men's National Volleyball Team
The Montenegro men's national volleyball team represents Montenegro in international men's volleyball competitions and friendly matches. The national volleyball team was formed in 2006, recently after independence. Montenegro has been a full member of FIVB and CEV since 2006. Montenegro played their first official match on 1 September 2007 in Podgorica and won against Latvia (3–1). Until 2017, at major tournaments, Montenegro played in FIVB World League and European League. Montenegro made main success at 2014, winning the gold medal in European League. The Montenegro women's national volleyball team is the national team of Montenegro. It is governed by the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro and takes part in international volleyball competitions.
