Voices Of Angels
''Voices of Angels'' is the eleventh studio album released by the group Celtic Woman. Background The album was recorded at Cauldron Studios in Dublin, Ireland with the seventy-two-piece RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland in August 2016, and includes a mixture of original songs, new covers and re-arranged versions of previous Celtic Woman covers. ''Voices of Angels'' features vocalists Susan McFadden, Mairéad Carlin, Éabha McMahon, and fiddler and harpist Tara McNeill, with a guest appearance by former member and current vocal director Méav Ní Mhaolchatha. This is the group's first album to feature McNeill as their newest member (at the time). A digital-download copy of the album was made available as part of a ticket presale for the group's 2017 ''Voices of Angels'' tour in the United States, Canada, Japan, Europe, and Australia. Celtic Woman
Celtic Woman is an all-female Irish musical ensemble conceived and created by David Kavanagh, Sharon Browne and David Downes, a former musical director of the Irish stage show ''Riverdance.'' In 2004, Downes recruited five Irish female musicians who had not previously performed together, vocalists Chloë Agnew, Órla Fallon, Lisa Kelly and Méav Ní Mhaolchatha, and fiddler Máiréad Nesbitt, as the first lineup of the group that he named "Celtic Woman". Downes chose a repertoire that ranged from traditional Celtic tunes to modern songs. The show was meant to be a one-time event held in Dublin, Ireland, but multiple airings on PBS helped boost the group's popularity. The group's line-up has changed over the years. Mairéad Carlin
Mairéad Carlin is an Irish singer. She is a former member of the ensemble Celtic Woman and was the first-ever member of the group that was born in Northern Ireland. Early life Carlin was born in Derry. "Derry, my hometown, is a very cultured and musical place; wherever you turn there's always music...That was especially true in my family... We’d just sit around the fire, sing, and drink tea". Career Carlin began her career at the age of 15 when she won the title role of 'The Rose' in BBC Talents 'Young Singers' competition in the opera ''The Little Prince'', by Rachel Portman. You Raise Me Up
"You Raise Me Up" is a song originally composed by the Norwegian-Irish duo Secret Garden. The music was written by Secret Garden's Rolf Løvland, and the lyrics by Brendan Graham. After the song was performed early in 2002 by the Secret Garden and their invited lead singer, Brian Kennedy, the song only became a minor UK hit. The song has been recorded by more than a hundred other artists including American songwriter Josh Groban in 2003 and Irish boy band Westlife in 2005 whose versions were hits in their countries. ''Téir Abhaile Riú'', also known as ''Teidhir abhaile Riú'', Teigh abhaile Riú or even just simply Teir abhaile, is an Irish folk song. A young woman, or girl, is told to return home as her match has been made. The lyrics for the song vary. In most versions, said woman, or girl, debates with someone about whether or not the match is made. In some versions she is told to marry the piper. The version written for Celtic Woman contains mostly English words and adds information about her reputation, as compared to other popular versions. "Love Theme from ''Romeo and Juliet''", also known as "A Time for Us", is an instrumental arranged by Henry Mancini (from Nino Rota's music written for Franco Zeffirelli's film of ''Romeo and Juliet'', starring Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey). "Ave Maria" is a popular and much-recorded setting of the Latin prayer Ave Maria, originally published in 1853 as "". The piece consists of a melody by the French Romantic composer Charles Gounod that he superimposed over an only very slightly changed version of Bach's Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, from Book I of his ''The Well-Tempered Clavier'', 1722. The 1853 publication has French text, but it is the 1859 version with the Latin Ave Maria which became popular.
