''Voice – The Best of Beverley Knight'' is the first greatest hits album by British R&B recording artist and songwriter Beverley Knight, released in the United Kingdom on 20 March 2006 by Parlophone. The collection includes twelve UK Top 40 singles, including the newly recorded track and single "Piece of My Heart". The album also includes a second new track co-written with and produced by Chris Braide entitled "Who's Gonna Save Your Soul" and two live tracks. It was supported by the Voice – The Best of Tour. "Piece of My Heart", a cover of the Erma Franklin and Janis Joplin hit, which Knight performed on her 2005 Affirmation Tour, preceded the release of the album on 13 March 2006. The album was certified silver by the BPI on 31 March 2006, less than two weeks after its release. It was later certified gold at end of its fourth week of release by the BPI, on 21 April 2006. Beverley Knight
Beverley Knight (born Beverley Anne Smith, 22 March 1973) is an English recording artist and musical theatre actress. She released her first album, ''The B-Funk'', in 1995. Heavily influenced by American soul music icons such as Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin, Knight has released eight studio albums. Erma Franklin
Erma Vernice Franklin (March 13, 1938 – September 7, 2002) was an American gospel and soul singer. Franklin was the elder sister of American singer/musician Aretha Franklin. Franklin's best known recording was the original version of "Piece of My Heart", written and produced by Bert Berns, and recorded in 1967, for which she was nominated for a Grammy Award. A cover version of the same song was recorded the following year by Big Brother and the Holding Company, with the lead vocal by Janis Joplin. Reginald Noble (born April 17, 1970), better known by his stage name Redman, is an American rapper, DJ, record producer, and actor. He rose to fame in the early 1990s as an artist on the Def Jam label. He is well known for his collaborations with his close friend Method Man, as one-half of the rap duo Method Man & Redman, including their starring roles in films and sitcoms. The track contains a re-recorded sample of "Act Like You Know" by American R&B group Fat Larry's Band. Not Too Late For Love
"Not Too Late for Love" is the second single from Beverley Knight's fourth studio album, ''Affirmation (Beverley Knight album), Affirmation''. The single reached number 11 in the airplay chart and peaked at number 31 on the UK Singles Chart. At that time, it was her lowest chart position since "Sista Sista" in 1999. However this has since been eclipsed by the 2007 single, "No Man's Land" (co-written by Eg White and Jimmy Hogarth), which peaked at number 43 becoming her lowest chart position in nine years, and "After You", which charted at number 131, both of which are from ''Music City Soul'', her 2007 album. "Made It Back" is a song by Beverley Knight, released as the first single from her second studio album, ''Prodigal Sista''. It was also the first single Knight released on EMI controlled Parlophone Records after she signed a four album deal with the label in 1997 after disagreements with her previous label, Dome Records. The song, which peaked at #27 in Britain, was different from the album version - which was produced by Mike Spencer, and is a big favourite amongst fans.
