Vià Occitanie is a French television channel, part of the ''Vià'' network, operating in the Occitanie region of southern France. Formerly known from 2011 until 2017 as TVSud, the channel provides local programming for the cities of southern France. History TVSud was launched on February 7, 2011, with programming each day from 7am to 11pm. The station changed its name to Vià Occitanie on 28 September 2017. Vià Occitanie is available in Southern France on terrestrial television, is carried by some French cable TV providers in various regions (mostly in the South) and is available online both nationally and internationally. Programming Most programming is locally based and produced. Newscasts air every half hour. Sport Vià Occitanie is the national broadcast partner of the Elite One Championship through its cable and online services. Vià (stylised as vià) is a French television network. It started as a southern regional network in 2010, before going national in 2018, and subsequently contracting again due to economic problems. History Origins When its national network Antennes Locales did not take off, Paris-based sold off its television stations to various regional investors. In 2009 TéléMiroir, based in the southern city of Nîmes, was sold to Christophe Musset and his associate Pierre-Paul Castelli, who had previously partnered with GHM in free print publications. In 2010, Musset founded an umbrella company called Médias du Sud (), and acquired more stations in the southern cities of Montpellier, Perpignan, and Marseille (the latter went off the air in 2016). Consequently, Musset's stations adopted the common branding TVSud (), followed by the name of their specific submarket. Elite One Championship
Elite 1 is the top level rugby league competition in France, sanctioned by the French Rugby League Federation. The season runs from September to April, which is in contrast to the majority of other major domestic rugby league competitions worldwide. The clubs play each other home and away then they enter into a play-off series culminating with a Grand Final. The competition is the continuation and first division of the French Rugby League Championship, which has been in existence since 1934, and is generally regarded as the third most important domestic championship in the world, behind Australia's National Rugby League and the transnational European Super League, and ahead of the NZRL National Competition, Balkan Super League, Rhino Cup and USA Rugby League. Occitania (administrative Region)
Occitania ( ; french: Occitanie ; oc, Occitània ; ca, Occitània ) is the southernmost administrative region of metropolitan France excluding Corsica, created on 1 January 2016 from the former regions of Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. The Council of State approved Occitania as the new name of the region on 28 September 2016, coming into effect on 30 September 2016. The modern administrative region is named after the larger cultural and historical region of Occitania, which corresponds with the southern third of France.
