Hair Tonic
Hair is a protein filament that grows from follicles found in the dermis. Hair is one of the defining characteristics of mammals. The human body, apart from areas of glabrous skin, is covered in follicles which produce thick terminal and fine vellus hair. Most common interest in hair is focused on hair growth, hair types, and hair care, but hair is also an important biomaterial primarily composed of protein, notably alpha-keratin. Attitudes towards different forms of hair, such as hairstyles and hair removal, vary widely across different cultures and historical periods, but it is often used to indicate a person's personal beliefs or social position, such as their age, sex, or religion. Overview The word "hair" usually refers to two distinct structures: #the part beneath the skin, called the hair follicle, or, when pulled from the skin, the bulb or root. This organ is located in the dermis and maintains stem cells, which not only re-grow the hair after it falls out, but also ...

Mare Vitalis
''Mare Vitalis'' (Latin for "Sea of Life") is the second full-length album by Lawrence, Kansas-based emo group The Appleseed Cast. It was released on Deep Elm Records in 2000. Critical reception ''Exclaim!'' called "Storms" "a brooding, seven-and-half minute emo classic." ''Willamette Week'' called ''Mare Vitalis'' the band's "most essential album," writing that " inger-guitarist ChrisCrisci and guitarist Aaron Pillar split the difference between their post-rock future and the driving punk that birthed the band." The ''Chicago Reader'' thought that "on 'And Nothing Less' and 'Santa Maria' the Appleseed Cast find nirvana through repetition." ''Vulture'' deemed it "oceanic indie rock." Vitalis Of Savigny
Vitalis of Savigny (ca. 1060 – 16 September 1122) was the canonized founder of Savigny Abbey and the Congregation of Savigny (1112). Life He was born in Normandy at Tierceville near Bayeux about 1060–5. His parents were Rainfred le Vieux and Rohais. We know nothing of his early years; after ordination he pursued advanced studies before becoming chaplain to Duke William the Conqueror's brother, Robert of Mortain (died 1090). The ''Vita'' of Vitalis, tells of Robert beating his wife and Vitalis, intervening, threatened to end the marriage if Robert did not repent. In yet another entry Vital leaves Robert's service abruptly and after being escorted back to him, Robert begged for Vital's pardon for his actions. Vitalis gained the respect and confidence of Robert, who bestowed upon him a canonry in the collegiate church of Saint Evroul at Mortain, which he had founded in 1082. Vitalis felt a desire for a more perfect state of life. He gave up his canonry in 1095, settled at Do ...

Vitalis Of Milan
Saint Vitalis of Milan ( it, San Vitale) was an early Christian martyr and saint. Biography His legend relates that Vitalis was a wealthy citizen of Milan, perhaps a soldier. He was married to Valeria of Milan. They are supposed to have been the parents of the (perhaps legendary) Saints Gervasius and Protasius. According to legend, Vitalis was an officer who accompanied the judge Paulinus from Milan to Ravenna. He encouraged Saint Ursicinus of Ravenna to be steadfast at his execution, and himself gave Ursicinus honorable burial. Vitalis was discovered to be a Christian. Paulinus ordered Vitalis to be racked and then thrown into a deep pit and covered with stones and earth. The date of his martyrdom is uncertain: some sources say that he was a victim of Nero; others, of Marcus Aurelius. He was martyred in Ravenna, but all else in the story is suspect. "Many scholars believe that the narrative is partly fanciful, recognising in the characters mentioned, other martyrs of the same n ...

Vitalis Of Gaza
Saint Vitalis of Gaza (died ) was a hermit venerated as a saint in the Oriental Orthodox Church, Eastern Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church. He is the patron saint of prostitutes and day-laborers. Life A monk of Gaza, Vitalis travelled to the city of Alexandria at the age of sixty. His legend states that after obtaining the name and address of every prostitute in the city, he hired himself out as a day laborer, and took his wage to one of these women at the end of the day. He would hire the woman for the night and, according to legend, spend the night praying for her or preaching to her. This practice was condoned by the Church, and many prostitutes in the city abandoned their profession and became wives and mothers. Death and veneration Vitalis was killed when a man, misunderstanding the nature of the monk's visit to a brothel, struck him on the head. Vitalis managed to return to his hut where he died. Apparently during his burial, former prostitutes came out to ...
