Virtua Fighter 5 R
is the fifth installment in Sega's ''Virtua Fighter'' series of arcade fighting games. The original version was released on the Sega Lindbergh arcade system board. The first location tests took place on November 26, 2005 leading to the official release on July 12, 2006, in Japanese arcades. An export version, based on Version B, was released to arcades outside of Japan in February 2007. The revised Version B update was released in Japanese arcades in December 2006 and was ported to the PlayStation 3, for which it was released February 2007 and was a launch title for the console's European release in March 2007. Version C was released in Japanese arcades in July 2007 and was ported to the Xbox 360, for which it was released October 2007 in Europe and in North America. The Xbox 360 version would allow users to compete online via Xbox Live, a feature that was not available on the PlayStation 3 version. Sega AM2
previously known as is a video game development team within the Japanese multinational video game developer Sega. Yu Suzuki, who had previously developed arcade games for Sega including ''Hang-On'' and ''Out Run'', was the first manager of the department. AM2's first game produced was 1992's ''Virtua Racing'', followed by the highly popular ''Virtua Fighter (video game), Virtua Fighter'' and ''Daytona USA (video game), Daytona USA''. Through the remainder of the 1990s, they developed more arcade titles and focused on fighting and racing games. AM2 was placed under the management of CSK Research Institute in 2000, and a year later became SEGA-AM2 Co., Ltd. Their development of ''Shenmue (video game), Shenmue'' was over budget and cost millions of dollars, and despite positive reviews and good sales was unable to become profitable. Akira Yuki
Akira Yuki is a fictional character in the ''Virtua Fighter'' fighting game franchise by Sega. As the series' main protagonist and mascot, Akira appears in every ''Virtua Fighter'' game as a playable character, and is usually shown on the games' box arts. His fighting style is Bajiquan. Akira strives for perfection and will drive himself relentlessly to master his techniques. He seeks worthy opponents to fight in order to find flaws in his skills to further attain mastery. Beyond ''Virtua Fighter'', Akira appears as a guest character in '' Dead or Alive 5'' and is featured in the crossover fighting game '' Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax''. He's also a selectable racer in '' Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing'', where he and Jacky Bryant share the same kart. is a fictional character in the ''Virtua Fighter'' series of fighting games by Sega. Sarah is a college student from San Francisco, California who debuted in the original ''Virtua Fighter''. She has made several guest and cameo appearances in other games, notably in Tecmo Koei's ''Dead or Alive 5'' as a playable character.
