Virginia House Of Delegates
The Virginia House of Delegates is one of the two parts of the Virginia General Assembly, the other being the Senate of Virginia. It has 100 members elected for terms of two years; unlike most states, these elections take place during odd-numbered years. The House is presided over by the Speaker of the House, who is elected from among the House membership by the Delegates. The Speaker is usually a member of the majority party and, as Speaker, becomes the most powerful member of the House. The House shares legislative power with the Senate of Virginia, the upper house of the Virginia General Assembly. Israel O'Quinn
Israel Dean O'Quinn (born March 5, 1980) is an American politician. A Republican, he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2011. He the 5th district, made up of the cities of Bristol and Galax, Grayson County, and parts of Smyth and Washington counties in the southwestern part of the state. Early life, education, business career O'Quinn graduated from Patrick Henry High School; he went on to receive a B.A. degree in political science and history from Emory and Henry College in 2002. After graduation, he worked in the office of the Attorney General of Virginia, Jerry Kilgore, and on several political campaigns. Russell County () is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 25,781. Its county seat is Lebanon. History On January 2, 1786, Russell County was established from a section of Washington County. L.P. Summers, a Washington County historian later wrote, "Washington County lost a great extent of country and many valuable citizens when Russell County was formed." Virginia's ninth congressional district is a United States congressional district in the Commonwealth of Virginia, covering much of the southwestern part of the state. The 9th is Virginia's second-largest district in area, covering 9,113.87 square miles (slightly larger than the whole state of New Jersey). Paul Eugene Krizek (born July 22, 1961) is an American politician. He has served in the Virginia House of Delegates since 2016, representing the 44th district of Virginia in Fairfax County. Krizek is a member of the Democratic Party. Krizek serves as executive director and general counsel of Christian Relief Services, headquartered in Mount Vernon, on the Richmond Highway corridor.
