Virgil Village, Los Angeles
Virgil Village is a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. History In 1985, when the restaurant Cha Cha Cha opened at the corner of Virgil Avenue and Melrose Avenue, the ''Los Angeles Times'' questioned its location on Melrose Avenue and described the area as both "graffiti-splattered" and "shabby". Nine years later, in 1994, the ''Times'' stated that Cha Cha Cha owner Mario Tamayo had started a "renaissance" in the area. In 1994, the city, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative (LANI), installed banners in the neighborhood with the name Virgil Village. Also that year, Huell Howser visited the neighborhood as part of his PBS series '' Visiting... with Huell Howser''. Neighborhood Councils in the City of Los Angeles are city-certified local groups made up of people who live, work, own property or have some other connection to a neighborhood. Mitch O'Farrell
Mitch O'Farrell (born 1960) is an American politician, who served as a member of the Los Angeles City Council for the 13th district from 2013 to 2022, during which he spent eight days as President of the City Council during the 2022 Los Angeles City Council scandal. The City of Los Angeles posts neighborhood signs to identify the geographic boundaries of different neighborhoods. LAist stated that these signs indicate “official L.A. neighborhood” designation and in 2008 estimated that Los Angeles had 185 neighborhoods with an official "blue sign”.
