Vira Mahindra Malla, also known as Mahendra Malla, (Nepali: वीर महेन्द्र मल्ल) was a Malla dynasty king and the King of Patan. He succeeded Vira Narasimha Malla and reigned from 1709 to 1715. Life Vira Mahindra Malla was an illegitimate son of Yoganarendra Malla. His mother, Rajeswaridevi, was driven out to Tanahun by the faction led by Indra Malla before his birth and thus he was born in Tanahun. He spent his early childhood there and returned with his mother to Patan. In 1709, after the death of Indra Malla, there was a political struggle for power between Rajeswaridevi and Yogamati, the daughter of Yoganarendra Malla. Vira Narasimha Malla was installed as the ruler by Yogamati at first but he was quickly succeeded by Vira Mahindra in the same year. Siddhi Narasimha Malla, also known as Siddhinarasimha or Siddhi Narasingh, () was a Malla dynasty king and the King of Patan. He was a religious king and ruled as the King of Patan from 1619 to 1661. Background of Patan After the division of Kathmandu Valley into the three kingdoms of Kantipur, Patan, and Bhadgaon, Patan was ruled by feudal lords called ''pramanas''. In around 1697, Shivasimha Malla, grandfather of Siddhinarasimha and Laxmi Narasimha Malla, annexed Patan, which was then ruled by Purandarsimha, the son of Vishnusimha. Sivasimha Malla installed his son Hariharsimha as the governor of Patan. Hariharsimha died shortly afterwards, and he was succeeded by his eldest son, Siddhinarasimha. Yoga Narendra Malla, also known as Yoganarendra, (Nepali: योगनरेन्द्र मल्ल) was a Malla dynasty king and the King of Patan. He was the son of Srinivasa Malla and reigned on Patan from 1685 until his death in 1705. Early life Yoganarendra was involved in administering the kingdom from his early age because of his father. However, his relationships with the local feudal lords soon began to deteriorate especially against a person named Bhagirath Bhaiya. Yoganarendra also indulged himself in illicit activities which caused his father to abdicate so that Yoganarendra would be busy ruling the kingdom. Reign Srinivasa Malla abdicated in 1685 and Yoganaraendra was crowned as the king in December of the same year. He began to get rid of his enemies and had Bhagirath Bhaiya murdered in 1690.
