Vince Peach
Vince Peach is a soul music enthusiast, record collector, radio presenter and DJ in Melbourne, Australia. Peach came to Australia from Liverpool in 1982, bringing his vinyl record collection. He presents the program ''Soul Time'' on Melbourne radio station PBS FM, which he has presented for 30 years. As a mark of respect, he is sometimes referred to as "''Vince 'The Prince' Peach''". Peach was first part of the Mod revival scene in Liverpool, where he travelled every weekend to the Twisted Wheel club and absorbed the beginnings of Northern Soul, evidently taking the role of DJ in the club. ''Soul Time'' is a 1960 album by jazz pianist Bobby Timmons featuring Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Sam Jones on bass, and Art Blakey on drums. After ''This Here Is Bobby Timmons'', this was the second album recorded under Timmons' leadership. He handpicked a cast of jazz musicians to complement his gospel style of jazz. This album contains four songs written by Timmons ("Soul Time", "So Tired", "Stella B." (named for his wife), and "One Mo'"). Mod Revival
The mod revival was a subculture that started in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and later spread to other countries (to a lesser degree). The mod revival's mainstream popularity was relatively short, although its influence lasted for decades. The mod revival post-dated a Teddy Boy revival, and mod revivalists sometimes clashed with Teddy Boy revivalists, skinhead revivalists, casuals, punks and rival gang members. The late 1970s mod revival was led by the band the Jam, who had adopted a stark mod look and mixed the energy of punk with the sound of early 1960s mod bands. Twisted Wheel
The Twisted Wheel was a nightclub in Manchester, England, open from 1963 to 1971. It was one of the first clubs to play the music that became known as Northern Soul. History The nightclub was founded by the brothers Jack, Phillip and Ivor Abadi as a blues and soul live music coffee bar/dance club. The original location of the club was on Brazennose Street, between Deansgate and Albert Square. This was the rhythm and blues mod venue, with Roger Eagle as DJ.
