Villa Strongoli, Sorrento
The Villa Strongoli is a former rural palace located on Vittoria Veneto #1, on the Bay of Naples shoreline of Sorrento, in Campania, Italy. Since 1812 the villa buildings have been used as a hotel, the Imperial Hotel Tramontano. History The villa was established by the Pignatelli family in the 17th century. According to local legend the property includes the house in which Torquato Tasso was born. Gulf Of Naples
The Gulf of Naples (), also called the Bay of Naples, is a roughly 15-kilometer-wide (9.3 mi) gulf located along the south-western coast of Italy (province of Naples, Campania region). Sorrento (, ; nap, Surriento ; la, Surrentum) is a town overlooking the Bay of Naples in Southern Italy. Torquato Tasso ( , also , ; 11 March 154425 April 1595) was an Italian poet of the 16th century, known for his 1591 poem ''Gerusalemme liberata'' (Jerusalem Delivered), in which he depicts a highly imaginative version of the combats between Christians and Muslims at the end of the First Crusade, during the Siege of Jerusalem (1099), Siege of Jerusalem of 1099. "Torna a Surriento" () is a Neapolitan song composed in 1894 by Italian musician Ernesto De Curtis to words by his brother, the poet and painter Giambattista De Curtis. The song was copyrighted officially in 1905, and has become one of the most popular of this traditional genre; others include "'O sole mio", " Funiculì funiculà", and " Santa Lucia".
